Post AMP (right front) TJ has always laid on his left side to sleep. About a week or so ago after he would not lay on this side to sleep I rolled him over on his right side (amputated side). He goes to sleep IMMEDIATELY. I mean lights out deep sleep not move for 8 hours sleep.
Has anyone ever seen this or know why he goes into such a trance like sleep? I he does normal doggy sleep things (running, growling, farting) but other than that he will not move. He seems fine, and when I roll him over on the left side so he can get up he's like new.
Hmmmmmm, interesting. But then again, TJ always likes to keep you on your toes! He's such a delightful dog!
I can only say my Happy Hannah sleeps hard, well and sou dly too. And she does all the "sleep" things too....well, except fartin'.....girl dogs don't do that, right? It's just a boy dog thing! Okay! Okay! When she eats her sardines I have to clear the room:-)
The exertion it takes to hop around on three is tremendous and I think that's one reason they sleep soooo soundly now and barely move. And adding heat and humidity to the mix and they are just zapped
I think it alao means his surgery site is FULLY healed now and it may just be more comfortable to lay on that side now. It probably feels good to be off the left side some now.
If you aren't seeing any "issues" with his left side..no sprain, lumps, pulled muscles, neck strain, etc.eating, drinking, eating, pooping fine....I'd just chalk it up to "all is well" in TJ's world! Maybe could be a little arthritis issue related to on the left side.
Heck Happy Hannah sleeps a good ten plus hours and loves her naps too!
Yeah, I had to laugh at your comments on the post you did of the boys swimming! The loving and spoiling that they so richly deserve.......can turn them into quite demanding pups! They know we will hop up immediately and take care of every little whim and any and every "request" they make of us:-) And I wouldn't trade that for the world!
How 'bout some more pictures of that handsome pup?? Would love to see 'em. He is one loved pup and is enjoying every sacred second with you and making treasured memories for both of you:-)
Thanks for keeping us posted on TJ. We all care!
Tummy rubs from js to TJ......and a clothes pin for you at night:-) )
Sally and Happy Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Sally you are so sweet for keeping this topic bumped up. I think my only insight is, as long as he's healthy and everything is normal, breathing seems OK, let a sleeping doggie have his nap.
He may have been sleeping like this all along but maybe you didn't notice before the whirlwhind of getting his leg removed and recovery? Most Tripawds pawrents tend to get micro-focused on so many little things after surgery, it's only human.
