The timing of all this...how it's all unfolded....the "Gator" part... the scheduling of home visit .it just HAS to be right for more reasons you could ever even imagine right now.

When will Gator actually become "available" to go to his furever home...with you??

IF you feel like it, could you post the photo of Otis doing his Gator impersonation??

Otis knows what he's doing. He's clearly your protector as well as'his beloved Tess.

Hoping with all my heart this works out quickly!

Has got to be someone else - the photos have 4 legs!

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

We are holding our collective breath to hear how the home visit goes tonight. Will they actually bring Gator along, or is it just the rescue rep? We didn't have a home visit since Ollie came from a shelter, so I would be interested to hear how they do their inquiry.

Kathi

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Just the rescue rep.  The same woman I met on Saturday.  I think they just want to make sure I have a fenced yard and understand what owning a dog entails.  Hopefully, she can give me an exact ETA on Gator's arrival.

Geez...talk about what it entails to own a dog!! You could write a book!

Wish we all could get on a conference call with her tonight when she comes. By the time we're through, she just may go to pick Gator up from Tennessee ronight and bring him straight to you!!

Paws crossed that this is meant to be! If all the "signs" mean anything, this could be the one!

FIngers and paws crossed here!!! And LOL at what "owning a dog entails" ... I think after I filled out Jasper's 5 page adoption papers from the rescue on how I was a loving dog mom and did everything humanely possible for Shelby ... they basically handed her to me -no questions asked! LOL

But I am glad rescues do their due-diligence... not everyone pet pawrent is as amazing as the people here!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

So, passed my home visit and should be officially approved in a couple of days.  And believe it or not, she knew immediately that the industrial floor mats were for dog traction - before Tess had her cruciate repair, I never would have guessed that dogs needed traction in that way.  So, I got a gold star for that.  smiley

She didn't have the backstory on Gator, so she is going to try for that, as well as his medical file.  And she will check to see if they have any bonded pairs waiting for a home in their system.  But, if there are no bonded pairs, then I think Gator will likely be the guy - don't want to wait on a hypothetical bonded pair (that likes cats) when there is a dog available.

I would think you got a Milky Way of gold stars. You certainly should have done. Any dog who comes to you is a lucky dog indeed. Thanks for the update. We're keeping everything crossed.

When we were looking for a companion for Cassie, before we found Murphy, I had contacted a rescue group about a puppy.  They wanted all of our information, vet information, etc.  Then they said that we didn't qualify - they had called our vet and asked when was the last time I bought Heartguard/Frontline for Cassie and it had been over a year.  I got so angry!  I told them, "Well, maybe you should have dug a little deeper.  Cassie & Taz were on the same dose.  2 months before we lost Taz I bought a year's worth of both of those, so of course it looks like I haven't bought them!"  ugh!

But, after that we found Murphy heart

You'll know when it's the right dog.
