Word up everypawdy! Karen just reported that
"Surgery went well, 2.5 hours! Lots of damage I think. I was home at 10:45. I feel fine now, arm and shoulder still completely numb so no pain… yet.
More in the AM after I see the doc and get the whole scoop. Got my JuJu socks on!"
She's on her way to recovery, looks like the good vibes are helping. Wooo hoo!

Here's wishing you a very smooth and speedy recovery! Those magical Juju socks can do wonders (and so can those pain meds!) We are thinking of you and hope your resting comfortably.
All the best,
Kami, Mackenzie and Kobe
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
I know you won't be responding to these Karen, but I hope you have a quick and uneventful recovery! We are sending much healing energy and prayers your way 🙂

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
Thinking of you today, Karen, hoping the pain meds keep working. I'll be around during the weekend if you need anything. Let the healing begin!

Hi Karen,
We're so glad to hear that the surgery went well and your home recovering. That's great news.
I know how you like Fortis wearing hats and getting stuff put on his head so I thought I would post a picture from Thanksgiving Day for you. I hope it gives you a laugh
Sending lots of positive healing thoughts your way.

I'm beginning to think Fortis is abused

Oh Fortis! That's adorable! Dad forgot to mention that those are regular size "front porch" pumpkins and it just shows us how big you are!

Yay, Karen! We're keeping all fingers and paws crossed in our house that you have an uneventful recovery!
And we're sure that those pics of Fortis will help - isn't laughter the best medicine? Front porch pumpkins indeed!

Hi everybody,
Thanks for all the positive thoughts and good wishes. I can't believe it's been five days since the surgery.
I am doing fine, but there was a lot of damage in my shoulder, even more than the doctor anticipated. As a result I ended up on two pain meds and because of that I've spent most of my time sleeping (medicinal naps!). I start PT tomorrow, and I'm looking forward to getting out of the house for a while.
Based on how I feel now I won't be spending too much time on the computer over the next few days, but I may spend a bit of time lurking here it Tripawds. I have a voice recognition software program that I'm using, but the problem is sitting up for too long. I expect that will get better by the end of the week.
Okay, time for pills and a nap, after all, I've been up for about three hours!
Karen
Oh Karen it's great to hear from you. I wanted to write but also didn't want you trying to do too much on the computer. Glad that you're at least moving around a little and getting out of the house. Don't overdo it, enjoy the pain meds and remember we are sending lots of good juju your way. Take it easy lady! xoxo

OH! So glad to hear from you!
You just get yourself well and don't worry about us! We'll holler if we need you and you can holler back on your voice software!

karen, so great to hear you are getting around a little bit. don't over do, take the meds, all of them (we had a friend with a terrible toothache after oral surgery, when asked 'didn't the dentist prescribe any pain meds?'...slim replied, 'well, of course, but i'm saving them for when i feel better'...). and of course, continue with those medicinal naps!!!!!
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
