Alison, a very happy one month, and counting! I just know, Jasper has somewhat brought a lot of happiness into your life, and at the same time, Shelby lives on within you, and will forever....that is how it works, I believe. Just like this rescue thing with Faith, that I just went through and was ultimately disappointed, John said to me, " you know you can't replace Polly, right?" I looked him square in the face, and thought of punching him first (just kidding, almost) and said, "Polly can NEVER, EVER be replaced! But I have a ton of love to give another sweet pup, and very much want to do so....!!" I think your post was worded so touchingly loving and with profound emotion......and yes, never underestimate the heart's infinite capacity to heal and allow one to open the door for new possibilities......so perfect and beautiful.....
Much Love,
Bonnie and Angel Polly
P.S. John is truly a wonderful person, father, and husband, just need to make sure I said that !!
