Today is one month (and a few hours) since Jasper came into my life ... it's hard to believe one month ago I was introducing her to you all here the evening prior and then I woke up Wednesday a.m. with a new dog that had NO clue who I was!
She has embraced her only child life ... I still don't always think she knows ALL those toys are for her! It's like a kid that's come out of an orphanage and suddenly doesn't have to share with anyone ... she still brings them all to her bed, her crate, my couch to snuggle.
This cracks me up... I was getting ready for work and all I saw where 'ears'. Underneath her were two more stuffed toys. And I think her antler was in there too. And one of those is a pillow that she occasionally "chews" on until I remind her that that isn't hers.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Happy one month, um, gottcha day!
My uncle Mike rescued a dog from a Reservation in Montana, Lupe was her name. She was part of a pack of puppies that had been abandoned and left to fend for themselves, I think she was about 9 or 10 months old when Mike got her. She had the same habit of collecting things as JL does. Maybe because she (they) didn't have anything to start with. All around the yard there were little piles of treasures- hoof clippings, bones, pieces of rope, antlers. At some point Lupe stopped making little piles of stuff, I'm not sure when though. I do know when I saw her when she was 8 or 9 years old she wasn't doing it anymore.
Jasper is pretty darn cute!

Very excited for you and Jasper Lily! There's nothing wrong with spoiling them rotten... RIGHT! Jasper Lily looks very happy and loved and Shelby Lynne couldn't want more for his mama to have her chin up again and smile at the sky! Don't forget Shelby Lynne is thanking you for everything you did for her.

Karen - I love that!!! I kind of hope Jasper never stops collecting her toys though. It's really adorable! i think you're right. She probably had nothing in her previous life so she stockpiles everything. She doesn't get aggressive or nippy if I try and take anything away either (which is good).
Thank you everyone ... we are BOTH working really hard! We (ok I) feel Shelby working hard to show me that it's OK to move forward. I'm getting there... I"m getting there!

Alison, you have a really, really special girl. I know we all say it over and over, but Shelby knew EXACTLY what she was doing when she "told you" .....shhh.....she's the one who needs you and your the one who needs her!
Ya' know what? Maybe she'll never be a fashionista like Shelby...no dog could ever handle "that" as well as Shelby...but she maybe the site's first "suffyista"!! She really wears them well AND she dresses her self in them!

Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury. Her amp was on 10/1/12. She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera. We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
It is hard to believe it's been a month! Those ears, I still am in love with her ears!!
Domino is a toy hoarder as well! Apparently all of our dogs need a hoarding support group. Im so glad she's continuing to do well with you

Domino had his left front leg amputate on May 13th 2014 after being hit by a car. He's now living a happy healthy life on three legs :)

Awe... thank you everyone for your sweet comments! Yesterday was a BIG day. One month and thank you all for recognizing how far we BOTH have come!
Jasper Lily made her Facebook debut today ... while that may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people, my entire FB world knows/knew that my life revolved around Shelby. They grieved with me for her loss, have missed me since she's been gone (I don't post as much and usually it's about Shelby though I try and limit my painful posts) and I worry greatly about how it looks to have a new girl in my life. But I think that by debuting Jasperita ... it makes it all real and Shelby is still sending me her love and guidance ...
For what it's worth, this is what I wrote: It honors the love of my life and acknowledges what I believe to be true - I am meant to be a dog mom and Shelby picked Jasper for me!
With the spirit of the "love of my life" guiding me, and her intuitive knowledge that I was meant to be a 'dog mom' and to open my home and heart to fur-lined clothes and muddy paws once again, I'll never underestimate the heart's infinite capacity to heal and allow one to open the door to new possibilities.
With a great deal of caution, trepidation, fear and hope, please meet Jasper Lily.
