Some of you might know that I lost Storm's (full) sister to lung cancer 13 months ago. His other (full) sister has been diagnosed with lung cancer today and is having further tests to see if it has spread or if it can be treated.
Storm has his mid-chemo lung x-rays tomorrow and I am now dreading the results as it really looks like there is a genetic reason for lung cancer in his family - fingers crossed for my old boy and his sister Cara
This is sad news I know. But OSA spread to the lungs is a different beastie than cancer that originates in the lungs (if dogs are like humans). Still of course it is possible that it does mean Storm has a tougher battle, but I would try not to worry any more than necessary!
Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise
Thanks for your reply Annapyr, it's such a shame that three from the same litter have been blighted by this cruel disease. Meeka (my sister) had primary lung cancer, Cara (the other sister) has secondary spread, they don't know where from yet. I'm glad his x-rays are tomorrow or I would go mad with worry!!
Welcome to Tripawds Jason, your future posts will not have to wait for approval.
Please think about starting a new forum topic of your own to introduce yourself and your pack (Lurchers! I just read your blog).

Oh Chellie I am so sorry for your loss! To have not one but two dogs pass from the same cancer is heartbreaking. It almost makes me wonder if there's some sort of environmental issue at play where you live. Please know we have all taken you under our wings and are sending healing thoughts to you today. Try to stay strong for Storm and keep positive thoughts going. My heart breaks for you. Sending hugs and Love to you across the miles

Please pass my condolences to Cara's family. Many of us here have had to let our pups go on to the Bridge, so we know how hard this day is.
Also please let Cara's family know that they are welcome here if they want to share more about Cara and get some support from our family. When it comes to losing a companion to cancer it doesn't matter how many legs they have.
Sending strong, positive thought for you and Storm tomorrow for clear xrays.

This just breaks my heart reading this. We are all crying with you today. So very, very sorry your Cara needed to go to the Bridge. I know your sister was there to greet her and show her around. Know that they are both healthy and free from pain and watching over you and Storm.
one would like to think that so ehow you are immune and get a "fee pass" if one dog gets this crap disease. Just doesn't work that way. I hate this &$#*&$ piece of crap disease.
You are going through so much right now...so much. Stay connected. You know we are all here for you and understand like no others can.
The whole community is sending pawsitive energy to sweet Storm. Ahhh....the bliss of being dog. Storm isn't worried about a thing.

PS...when you can, we'd love to see pictures of Cara and hear more about her. We already know she was very, very loved.
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I am so sorry for your loss .... my heart is with you and your family.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Thank you everyone for your kind thoughts, I'll pass them on to Cara's mum. It has not been an easy time for her as this is the fourth dog that she has lost in 18 months. The other three were all over 15 years old so not unexpected but still sad, Cara was only 10 years old so a relative youngster. I'm sure that Meeka will be waiting for her at the Bridge, the three siblings have always been so close.
Ohh I'm just now catching up. I'm so sorry about Cara, and all of the heartache her mum has endured lately. I can't even imagine, my heart goes out to the whole pack. And yes, if she wants to join us here to celebrate Cara and her siblings' lives, we welcome her with open arms & paws.
