Sam was truly one very handsome boy........I believe he is one of my Polly's new friends, and was there to welcome her when she left me a little over 3 weeks ago. And I do know, they take a huge part of our hearts with them. Time passes very quickly during happiness and celebration in life, and time stands very still for those who are grieving. So sorry for the loss of your sweet boy.......
Keeping you in my thoughts tonight.......
Bonnie & Angel Polly
Meghan,
Thank you for sharing these pictures of Sam. I can't believe he has been gone 6 months. I know he is right with you watching over you & teaching Gryphon some of his same little quirks. These milestones suck. Thinking of you today
Hugs

Sweet picture of your baby boy. I'm sure it all seems so fresh.
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
Oh Sam! The stubborn, obstinate Sammer, how we all miss you!!
But man oh man, when we see these great pictures, we remember that yo are always right here with us! Soooooo glad your Mom posted these tonight! These just warm my heart...they really do!
I'm always amazed at the "many faces" of Sam.....quite the chameleon
I love the look he's giving his Dad in the Christmas picture....where it looks like the cats are intent n escape...and Sam's just watching with that aloof "get it together look"!I'm co fused on my kitties.....which one is he tryig to choke...err...I mean...snuggle? Which one is Mommo?
Thanks so mich for sharing these Megan. He, and you, will ALWAYS hold a special place inour hearts. Quite an incredible team You always understood Sam so well and let him be...Sam. And being Sam is a good soul to be!
Yeah, we DO know where yoj are Sam, you are right herein our hearts ALWAYS......eang unny steak!!
Love,
Sally and Happy Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Meghan,
Those are great pictures! Especially the one of him with his arms around the cat and you look like me with the glass of wine. He is very handsome and I bet he got all his hair back in Heaven (or Dog Nirvana) and he probably didn't even want the leg back just to show off. Thanks for sharing.

It sure is hard to think that it has been six months. I came on here after Sam had already lost that luxurious coat, and it was hard for me to reconcile that dog with the one I think of as Sam. He was a real beauty. And I LOvED that Christmas picture, too.
He will always be looking down on all of you.
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Megan,
Thank you for sharing the "many faces" of Sam with all of us.
And thanks for supporting all of us on this site since Sam crossed the rainbow bridge.....my journey with Tuck was just beginning when yours with Sam was ending........and still you remained to support us.
Many hugs
Linda and Tucker
Oh Sam how we miss you.
I'm choked up over here, it's so beautiful to view the many phases of Samdog's life. To see him go from puppy to the prime of his life to the senior years, well, it reminds me so much of our own journey.
The smiles on your faces in those pics say it all, he was truly loved and always will be.

Thanks, every one. Sam was truly one of those one-in-a-million dogs. Like I said before, he might not have been the dog for everyone, but he was absolutely the dog for me. We grew up a lot together, and the lessons I learned with him--in our last six months together, especially--made me see the world differently (for the better, actually).
And, of course, I also ended up a part of this wonderful community--and have no plans to leave This is such a great resource, and I am more than happy to pay it forward. (Plus, I like posting gratuitous puppy/dog/cat/kitten pictures to like-minded people :p)
Michelle: Gryph has undoubtedly learned some things from Sam by spirit osmosis He is very fond of eating poop, being stubborn, and...yeah, catching bunnies.
Sally: Okay, so the group christmas picture was from, oh...2005ish? And it was NOT the photo we used for our card--although it should have been. We used one a frame or two before, where everyone was (relatively) staid and in control. It was lovely and cute and...Sam had a giant red rocket in it. Yeah, Sampson was VERY happy to have his picture taken--and we apparently made sure everyone saw it when we mailed it out. (Amusingly enough, no one noticed until years later :p) FWIW, Momo is the black cat in the photo (he's the one who has an extensive wardrobe as well) Come dig through our albums on facebook--they're public, so you don't even have to have an account (and you can see cats in pants!)
Kathi: Don't worry--nobody here knew Sam with fur :p He had an autoimmune condition, and was...oh, maybe 6 or 7 when we first noticed his coat was thinning a bit. Didn't think much of it until he had surgery to remove infected muscle tissue...and the fur never grew back (his fur nipple--the big bald spot on his rib cage). And every time he'd blow his coat...it just wouldn't grow back. Eventually, he was left with just the coarse guard hairs. Except for, oddly enough, his front legs and face. Which, esp. as he lost weight, made him take on something of a puppy-like expression (He never had a grey hair--he got a single grey whisker after his amp, but that was it.)
It was such a gradual thing, and we got so used to it (since it was more than half his life), that I never really noticed it, until sometimes people would say "Er, what's WRONG with that dog???" Actually, cancer made it easier, since people just assumed he was bald from that (even though that doesn't really happen to animals, like it does with people...and we didn't even DO chemo, anyway :D). We just called him the three-legged chupacabra.

Such sweet memories and thanks for sharing them with all of us. Sampson's stories always make me smile.
Take care-
Luanne
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
Thank you for sharing those pictures with us, what a beautiful fun filled life he had! The picture of him with his arm around the cat just melted my heart!! What a sweetie!! These babies leave such a big paw print on our hearts. People say that dogs are lucky to have people who care for them, but its really us who are the lucky ones!
