Zeus woke me up at 4:30 this morning to remind me that it is his six month ampuversary. Okay, I think he really just needed to potty, but he was smiling and wagging his tail and after the week we've had I was so happy to see him feeling good that the celebrations began before dawn!
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Hooray for 6 months!!! Hope he is feeling well enough for a few celebratory French fries!!
And I agree with Karen - no more drama Zeusy!
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Congrats on the 6 months! I like how getting woken up in the middle of the night is a celebration now, instead of an irritation. Changes perspectives a lot, doesn't it? Have fun today!
Jack - adopted with a crooked leg at 4 months old, managed for six years, and now much-happier Tripawd as of 5/24/2012!

Love Never Ends
Good for you, Zeus! MB Wrigley is wiggling with joy for you! (I hope that didn't sound dirty) Anyway, eat something really good and howl like you mean it!
Beth, Spirit Smilin' Sammy and MB Wiggly Wrigley
Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
Well Zeus, it's time for some good news from you! Congratulations my friend!
Your funky smile has turned out to be a chick magnet, even if the chicks are usually human. Please behave yourself now. No more sickness, no nothing on the disapproval list.
Are we to have french fries for you today? You tell us what you want the treat to be. I know you're fond of fries but maybe Ben and Jerry's is better? Let me know. (Both!)

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Happy 6 months Zeus-- so very glad to hear you are wagging your tail this week. Make sure your mom gets you some yummy fries.
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
Celebrate all day, Zeus. You all so deserve it What a wonderful milestone for such a handsome boy! Lily sends happy tail wags
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
Oh Zeus! This is super duper great news! I can't think of anything better than knowing you've reached this important milestone! And it's even on a Friday........so super YAY!
And just to make you smile even bigger on your special day............MBBVP got a bath! (he wasn't happy)
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
A very cool way to start the weekend. Congratulations my friend! You are a rock star!
