With all respect to my friends on the East Coast - it is crazy HOT here in Los Angeles (and we live by the beach so it "should" be cooler). I had to really search for parking and shade for my girl Walking on the soft sand was a little hard on her and she is feeling a little ooky from the chemo on Thursday but I think she enjoyed herself. She is definitely in the snooze zone ... Happy Saturday my Tripawd Family! XO from me and Shelby

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Awwwww! Sweet little beach bunny, enjoy!!!
What beach do you go to? Last time we were in L.A. we couldn't find a dog-friendly beach.

Watch out, Shelby! You are going to have a whole houseful of company with pictures like that! We would ALL love to be heading to the beach after seeing those great photos.
Kathi and Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!
Oh wow, I'm so envious of your beach time! Shelby is one lucky dog. She looks happy & content. Good job Alison.
Amy & Libby
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

I wouldn't say we were being 'legal'.... she isn't technically allowed on the beach. However, prior to her broken leg, etc. we would go to Rosie's beach in Long Beach. Kind of a schlep for us but there was a dedicated 2 mile stretch that was dog friendly. She would do the same (as she's doing here) just chillax on the beach.
She's definitely feeling icky tonight. She would only eat some gluten free pasta for dinner ... I don't think she feels that great. I was out and her dinner was super late (by over an hour) and I think the cerenia from yesterday must have worn off. She is drinking fine and would eat the pasta and certain cookies fine so I'll ride this wave with her. But it always makes me anxious when she doesn't it. It's not her personality.

Ahhhh ... love dogs on the beach with their big sticks! Great photo!!! Pure happiness!!!
Yup - Shelby definitely is feeling icky. She's never gotten this sick from a chemo treatment. She's drooling a bit (not a lot but enough to leave drops on her blanket) and periodically will shake. She doesn't appear in pain but also won't lay all the way down. She's moving really slowly. I hate how this stuff comes on suddenly when she was literally FINE this a.m. I am hoping it's just the chemo and nothing else. She also started a new iron pill two days ago and I know that iron pills tend to upset my belly so I wonder if it's the same for dogs.
I won't sleep tonight. I am going to get some pillows and snuggle next to her. I really hope we don't have to go to the ER vet tonight.

I'm sure it was just the chemo. How is she today?
Got it about the stealth beach visit! That's definitely something you can do with a small dog
Love to see happy dogs on the beach!

She's still turning her nose up at most foods but does enjoy her gluten free pasta and some of her doggy cookies (not all of them). I just think she still feels icky.
Due to her shaking and dripping/drooling we did end up at the ER vet last night (they know her so well in there). She was, of course, 100% fine once we got there and started her bad-assery again at home. They think it's a combo of the meds since there was no other obvious inflammation or issues. the only other concern is that she doesn't use her remaining rear leg as much and she's got a cankle situation going on. They told me to massage her leg and if it doesn't go down (I don't see any inflammation) to check w/the vet. Have you heard of this before?

Oh I'm sorry you ended up there but glad she didn't have to stay overnight. Here's to being a bad-a$$!
A cankle situation! You crack me up. You mean swelling?
