Congratulations Zeus! Keep fighting buddy. Looking forward to many more ampuversaries to come.
Kathy & Tasha
Tasha was a German ShepherdBorder Collie mix who was diagnosed with OSA at age 8. On December 29, 2011 she had her front right leg amputated and received 4 rounds of chemo. Sadly and suddenly Tasha became sick and we discovered she had liver cancer that had spread to her lung. After almost 19 months, Tasha earned her wings on July 17, 2013. No regrets and never forgotten.
Hope the Cytoxan is not giving him any troubles! Keep us posted.
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Well, Zeus took the Cytoxan at 6:00 this morning and so far he is fine! Dr. R has advised that he wants to adjust the schedule. Instead of the original 7 mg Cytoxan, 5 mg Peroxicam, 10 mg Prilosec daily, he wants me to give the Cytoxan every other day for two weeks, do a CBC then we will look at adding a substitute for the Peroxicam. He didn't mention the Prilosec, but I'm going to continue giving it to be safe.
I'm very peaceful with this decision, even though it means we are stepping down from the fight a little. We decided many months ago to fight this crappy cancer with every weapon - as long as we did no harm. I am determined to make sure that he is happy and to make sure that he feels good. Every night I pray a simple prayer - for guidance. That we always do what is right by Zeus. That he never suffers and that he is not in any pain.
Thank you all for your well wishes - and for just listening. This boy is the center of my universe and other than my husband, I have no one to talk to that understands.
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Glad to hear he's doing well! It sounds like a good plan, and also a good approach.
He's lucky to have you guys in his corner!
