Zeus, as usual, woke us up at 5:30 am this morning (his internal clock is spot-on, his internal calendar - not so much. Has a hard time telling Sat & Sun from the others). He just knows it is time for breakfast. He was smiling, which made me smile. He was wagging his tail, which I just couldn't muster up the energy to attempt at that hour. Then I retrieved the paper and saw the date. Seven months today! That made me smile even more.
Happy Ampuversary, my brave boy. Treats for all!
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Seven months is something to celebrate. And seven is a lucky number! I'm glad that he is tolerating the pills and you know things are good when they get up and want food!
Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Start the celebrations NOW! This is a terrific to way to start a new month! Happy Ampuversary Zeus!!!
Monkebutt says....bring on the treats! (I won't tell you what else he said - it wasn't nice.)
love the Maple bacon dog...can never get enough and those lips do like Zeus'!!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Happy seven month ampuversary, Zeus!! So happy for all of you A true tripawd warrior-wishing you many tail wags, scrumptious treats, and tons of scratchies (Lily love her scratchies). We're coming up on 7 months on 7/16-thanks for leading the way, Zeus
Joan and Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
Thanks everyone.
Kathyl, I must confess that he is not currently on the pills. After that first dose making him sick, Dr. R said we need to figure out which one made him so sick and to wait 48 hours with no vomiting and then try the Cytoxan only to see if he does okay with that alone. 48 hours was up on Friday night, but I read that it should be given in the morning (no one had mentioned that before) so we were going to start this morning. Once I realized that it was his ampuversary I decided to let him have a day of feeling good and to try tomorrow morning. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
Dukez, I had not seen the maple bacon dog but Greg and I loved the video!

Oh man, I almost let the day get away from me! So glad I made it to say Happy Ampuversary to the wildest smile around! But dang, 5:30 on the weekend? Zeus buddy, don't! Go back to bed. No breakfast is that good.
When is your birthday, Zeus? If you had your surgery in November and you were 11 1/2, then shouldn't you be closing in on a birthday? I'm just looking for reasons for more ice cream and cake.
Here's one for you, Zeus!

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

That's wonderful news Zeus. Congrats on hitting another milestone. May there be many more.
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. Zeus' birthday is October 31st. Actually, we adopted Zeus and Merlin from a shelter where I was volunteering. A man brought in dad, mom and seven puppies that he "found in the woods behind his house" - mmm-hmm, yeah - so we don't know the exact birthday but it would have been right about the end of October so they were dubbed Halloween babies. He was just over 11 yrs at diagnosis, but I've kept his biography up-to-date to show his current age.
Well, he woke up this morning feeling fabulous. We gave him his Cytoxan and Prilosec and I am holding my breath to see how the day progresses.
