Mama likes to take me for a walk in the evenings along this flood control ditch near our house. Well the cool thing is, there are several monkeydawgs in fenced in enclosures along the way. They bark and bark and bark at me. I usually just slow down and look at them trying to figure out what the fuss is about. But last night I decided to try and the whole bark, bark, bark and run thing!
I must say, I enjoyed it a LOT! They were amazed at how fass I run! I think one less leg is an advantage….less wind drag!

Spirit Samson was Spirit Tripawd Daisys four legged "brother" and ruled as the self proclaimed head of the Monkeybutt Federations East Coast Division. Lady Chunky Monkey stayed from Oct 2011 and left for the bridge in Apr 2012. Miss Perdy is left and has some big pawprints to fill.

Yeah, I have had the same thoughts…." I wonder if I should allow that? What if she hurts her remaining leg?"
Not sure if I know the answer to that. I don't want to never allow her to do anything out of fear, but at the same time, I know there is a risk. She doesn't do it every time. Matter of fact, she usually just stands there watching them loose their minds, but she just decided to give them a run for their money that evening. It truly amazes me that she has the balance and strength to do that.
I would be interested in hearing others thoughts on, how much you limit your tripawds activities in an effort to make sure they don't hurt themselves?
I don't want to never allow her to do what she enjoys for fear of her hurting herself. What is living, if you can't go for it?
It's not about the years in the life, but the life in the years lived.
But at the same time, I don't want her overdoing it and wearing out her remaining leg on the rear end.
So I really don't know the answer to this, but at the same time, I think I lean towards "live it up as long as you can!"
If dog's truly live in the moment, then why should we, through our human reasoning's, limit them?
Just thinking out loud here. I know everyone has to make the best decisions for their furry family members, based on their own feelings and thoughts about things. So perhaps there really is no set answer.
Carpe diem……:)
