This story is a little close to my heart. Dorey, this beautiful pup, was a stray who was found after being hit by a car, the same as my Tanner. Same nasty neighborhood, same leg and was given a chance by the same shelter. On October 26th, thanks to a wonderful event set up by Dorey's mom, we all got together to run for Dorey and her story to raise money for other dogs in need of amputation to be given their chance too. The inaugural Dorey and her story 5k was a success. You can run, walk, or hop 1 mile or 3. Tanner and I plan to run this next year (we started out walking this year, but Tanner decided that wasn't good enough...he wanted to run too). I'd love to make this a yearly Virginia Tripawds meet up date. There is plenty of room and shelters at the park!
Here is a video done by a local college student (Tanner is at the end being his crazy self trying to get another pup to play).
Mom to Tripawd Angels Jake (2001-2014) and Rosco (2012-2015) and Tripawd Tanner. “Whatever happens tomorrow, we had today; and I'll always remember it”
Amazing... thank you for sharing!!!
Was that Tanner throwing punches at the end?! I LOVE it! He's a boxer on three legs!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
