There has been a cloud lingering over the heads of WPMU site administrators like me for the past few months – it's called the merge, and it officially happened the other day with the release of WordPress 3.0.
This new version of WordPress merges the codebase for WordPress MU into one core publishing platform. This means the upgrade we're about to undertake is even more daunting than usual. And I was just getting it down!
Regular upgrades are a necessity to keep this site functioning properly. We nearly lost the forums after skipping a couple versions in early 2009. But we don't expect this upgrade to be regular by any means. All plugins and mu-plugins will need to be upgraded, and for many there is no turning back. Whether or not the main Tripawds News blog theme is even compatible is to be determined, which may necessitate a long needed theme overhaul.
Rest assured that we will do our homework, take our time, and do whatever it takes to ensure minimal downtime for the Tripawds Blogs and discussion forums. We'll use our development site to test evything before proceeding, but consider this fair warning of changes to come – hopefully for the better.

Angel Jake's Mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
if you run into problems with the upgrade... i recommend you turn off your computer, slam it shut, go have a beer, then come back to see if it fixed itself... repeat as needed...

Stay tuned for updates. We may recruit the Mod Pawd to test things over at our test install. But don't hold your breath, we have lots of work to do on the backend first.

And now .... going WAY back ... BACK to the jungle ... oh wait - that's a song .... ok a really OLD song .... but anyway .... some of you may know what I'm talking about ....
Remember the days of IBM electric typewriters?? Remember how they used to jam if you typed too fast? (anybody still with me??)
All you had to do to fix THOSE was to lift the front end up about 2 inches and drop it. Oh yeah - worked every time.
Ahhh - a simpler time.
Now - I'm with Diane - slamming and beering ... although I'm more of a tequila shooter girl myself.
Tana (Sophie just gagged [over at the hospital] at the thought of me adding her name to this post ... she's just getting her appetite back after a day and a half in the hospital ... I don't think she would endorse Tequila slammers.....)

"Going Dog" def: living every day in the moment
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."

You must try a Republic Texas Tea! Or, at least check out our video review for the new organic Republic Tequila. No cussing, just a tasty cocktail, featuring a great reposado... bing!
You're in the jungle now baby.

Admin - I thought I was the only one that hated upgrades. They make me grind my teeth in my sleep. If it ain't broken...what the hell upgrade!?
Tana,
IBM Selectric? A classmate on FB ask me to remove him in a tagged photo of our 10 year high school reunion, as not to reveal his age...I reminded him - he learned to type on a IBM Selectric Typewriter!
And Tana - it's so good you and I didn't grow up together! I am a tequila shooter - it's my drink of choice - no salt, no lime! And perferably Jose C - white tequila (none of that fancy 1800 stuff) Hence, the reason I haven't had a drink for years.
But you would have been super cool!

P.S. What's going on with Sophie???????? Is she okay?
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Jim and Rene ... looks like fun ! I'll have to give that recipe a try when I'm with my Tequila drinkin' buddy. It's my once-a-year-adult week when we celebrate our birthdays together.
Thanks !

OMG, Ge'Lena - I think you and I could have had some serious fun if we had grown up together ... yeah - probably gotten into some serious trouble too
Hilarious - 1986 - I was just getting divorced - for the FIRST time !! LOVE the hair !! No way am I going to post a picture of me from that time ... the hair alone would take up an entire page .
Thanks for asking - I picked Sophie up from the hospital about 4:30 pm. She has been sleeping ever since I got her home - but at least it is a more restful type of sleep - and she seems so much more comfortable. Thank God. They have given me 2 new drugs to give her - Cerenia and Famotidine.
She hasn't eaten anything since being home - but also hasn't had diarrhea and has not had any vomiting either. I guess we'll see more tomorrow. It's nice to hear her snoring peacefully again.
