Duke gets an upset stomach alot. The vet cannot figure out the reason other than he just probaly has a sensitive stomach. It is the worse whenever I am away from the house for a few hours or have to go out of a town. Two months ago we had to leave for 3 days and we had my brother stay home with him but Duke was miserable. He barely ate, was depressed, and stomach was all messed up. Same today since he had to go to the groomer. I was just wondering if anyone knows of anything I can give him to maybe settle his stomach since we are supposed to leave for about two days next week and with 3 kids no room for him in the car.

Keeping Duke's diet stable, without radical changes is a must. Do you have him on any probiotics? Probiotic canine intestinal supplements can certainly help reduce intestinal distress. Wyatt has the typical sensitive Shepherd stomach too. When things get ugly, we use green clay to firm things up quickly.

Hope this helps!

Poor Marmaduke!  He misses his mommy and sounds like a he has a nervous tummy!

Admin had some great suggestions.

In a quick fix, you can give him a generic Pepcid.  Famotidine.  (cheap over the counter - usually comes in 20mgs tabs - make sure it has nothing else in it. At walmart - it will say Acid Reducer - famotidine extra strength 20mgs)

"The recommended dose of Famotidine to be administered to pets is 0.25 to 0.5 mg per pound of the dog, every 12 to 24 hours."

I gave 20mgs to Comet per the vet - she was almost 40lbs.

Good luck!
