I haven't started a forum topic in a pretty long time, so I wanted to share this with everyone. I do hope I have it in the proper forum.....
I have gone back and forth about making a ribbon for Polly to add to the Tribute Leash; part of me was still too filled with grief for a very long time to decide, part of me said why bother, she is gone, and part of me wanted to because I want her remembered forever. Once I saw the leash posted here by Sally from the VA party, I knew it was something I really wanted to do for my Polly. I finally got it finished very early this morning about 2 am, and sat and cried my eyes out before I went to bed....I am so pleased with how it turned out for her. I think it may be a bit eccentric, but every bit of it is Polly's story...just can't fit everything I want on it. But I feel like I captured the important stuff, like the little engraved tag on the one end that says "inspire".....Polly inspired me, and taught me everyday about the importance of love, joy, and happiness in life, more so than any other pup I have ever had in my life. That is the MOST important thing I want to remember about her life with me...... She will live forever in a huge part of my heart......
It is perfect! I LOVE it! I am sure Polly does also. I just went yesterday and bought stuff for Ty's. I actually found shoe charms. I had actually forgotten about the leash until it was posted last weekend. It is a wonderful tribute to our pups. Love from Lori and Ty
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
IT is soooo pretty!!! I love it! What a beautiful piece of ribbon! You are so creative. I am inspired too and all I need to do is get a ribbon and some glitter. I debated it too but after seeing the ribbon, and knowing I will always be a part of this community, I want Shelby's spirit to soar as well.
Much love,
Alison & her Shelby
Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
very beautiful tribute ribbon for Polly. I think it fits

Okaaaaay...got the water works going over here!!
Yes indeedy, you really, really memorialozed Polly with this PERFECT TRIBUTE!, i love that you put the little "inspire" tag on it. Thank you for sharing what it meant to you and the lessons learned from Polly. Bonnie, she inspired us all. The love between you two is summed up so beautifulky on this ribbon and in this post. Polly was guiding you and Polly is,proud!,
The little pics of her are so cute. And that's her fur, right? Such a good idea! Milk Bone has been the favorite cookie of every single dog who has owned me! I REALLY like that you used a plaid ribbon...nice. Do the green felt circles represent tennis balls? You are a very clever girl Ms. Bonnie!
The look on Polly's face where you are smooching her....that is THE sweetest look,of contentment I think I've ever seen on a dog being kissed by her human!
I can absolutely assure you, when Polly's ribbon is placed on this leash of love, you will feel her,presence...her energy...this leash has a life affirming energy all its own. It really is cathartic.
Bonnie, you did a splendid tribute to our gentle soul Polly, just splendid. I'm so glad you created this and shared it with us...your family.....we love you and Polly a lot!!
Love and a whole lot of hugs!
Sally and Happyt Hannah
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Typing through tears. It's beautiful Bonnie.
Hugs,
Amy & Spirit Libby
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
Thanks so much, to all of you for your kind words, and also your unending support.....this decision in the beginning was a very difficult one for me, but so glad I decided to go forward with it.
Lori and Alison, I would very much love to see you post a pic of yours when you get them done for Ty and Shelby....I am sure they will be beautiful as well, and very unique.
Sally, yes, you are correct with all the observations on the ribbon......the colors in the ribbon signify all the colors represented in the Lupine collar she wore her entire life...Her collar was a different pattern of pink with different color butterflies, (appropriately named " Grrrly Dog ") but all the colors of her collar are within the plaid of the ribbon. I was lucky enough to find those little stick on tennis balls, I was amazed what I could find in the scrapbooking aisles at Michaels! Her life revolved around playing fetch with all those Kong tennis toys, especially the donut shaped toys, and extra large tennis balls. And yes, that is a bit of her saved fur that is attached to a pink heart sewn at the top of each side of the ribbon.....it was getting a little difficult to get the fur glued, but was fairly successful....was just made even more difficult trying to do it with the tears pouring out of my face.
Now, I just have to get a padded envelope for safe shipping to Karen to add this to the beautiful Tribute Leash, adorned with soooooo many courageous and beautiful pups, and for all the moms and dads that know the hard but worthwhile journey of our beloved Tripawds.
Much Love, and keeping you all within my heart,
Bonnie & Angel Polly
What a beautiful tribute to Polly you created, Bonnie. So glad you decided to do it.
Big hugs,
Deb and Lexie
Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
Bonnie, it is beautiful!
I can't wait to see it and add it to the Leash. Let me know when it is on its way so I can watch for it, I'll let you know when it arrives.
