Thanks for the support, guys. We miss Sammy and we miss having him toss pennies at us. However, we are getting increasingly excited about our new little monkeybutt — whoever he is!

Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
OMG I don't think you are crazy at all! Someone told me this story right after our Sam died....I thought it was sweet but didn't think much of it until about 10 days ago. I was commuting to work on the morning of our first real snow storm that left any snow and I was just really having a bad day. I realized I had the blues because I was sad Sammy wasn't with us to enjoy it - I hate the snow but learned to love it because Sam and Macklin would go crazy! Well, while I was trudging through the street with all the gross slush and snow banks I looked over and on top of a little snow bank was a band new shiny penny! yup, I stood on the street corner like a crazy lady crying with a big smile on my face. Sooooo, when I went home that night, I told JB, "I cried on the way to work today" which immediately alarmed him. I told him how I had the blues in the morning and he shared that he did too....well I went on to explain the story about pennies being sent and how I found one on the way to work and it made me happy. And now the wired part.....his eyes went wide and he shared that he too found a new penny in the snowy parking lot when he was walking in to work!
Here's to many more pennies! Xoxo
I LOVE your story and I don't think you're crazy at all! It gave me goosebumps. I'm so glad that Sammy could send you pennies.
Jenna & Spirit Chili Dawg
Diagnosed with OSA: 5/2/2011 Ampuversary: 5/11/2011 OSA returned in hip: 8/26/2011
Chili Dawg crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 8/30/2011 & is now pain free. He was my heart dog, and I miss him every day.
Dear Samsamsmom,
I am so glad you shared your experience. I don't know how your Sam and my Sammy did it — but they obviously knew we needed something to get us through the day. For us it was pennies, for some is shadowy glimpses in usual places and for others it is the warm memories and familiar smells of our beloved furkids.
One thing I now know for sure: we never lose that bond. I am comforted by that and by the many friends here on this site.
