He tosses a penny down,
Sometimes just to cheer you up
To make a smile out of your frown.”
When you’re feeling blue,
It may be a penny from heaven
That your dog has tossed to you.
Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011
Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more.
Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
Wow
Yes, I do believe it and how wonderful for you guys!
Like you said, sure, some could certainly be a coincidence, since you got to the stage where you were more consiously looking.
But, I believe.
Just incredible and wonderful.
And the timing that they stopped.
Whoa.
You put a smile on my face, bigtime!
Nothing like those little visits from those who reside in our hearts.

Oh I do believe it is their way of telling us they are ok. Last nite I was telling my Lil Guy (my 16-1/2 year old cat that I put to sleep the week before Thanksgiving) that he hadn't sent me a sign that he was ok. This morning I walked out the back door with the dogs and saw the brightest shooting star I had ever seen. It looked like it fell in the neighbor's yard. I haven't seen one of those in probably over 30 years!

I love these kinds of stories when folks get messages from their loved ones - whether the furry kind or not. I'm not sure whether it's just our search for a sign, or whether they're 'real', but it's sure nice to think that they are indeed signs that our loved ones are OK and telling us not to worry about them.
Thanks for sharing. I don't think you're crazy!! 🙂
Jackie, Angel Abby and MB Bunny Rita's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
First off- this is the best place to share this kind of story. Most here will not think you are crazy, and those that might have the good sense to keep it to themselves .
And it really doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or believes, it only matters what you and your family think and believe. If we tried really hard we could probably find some 'logical' explanation for almost all of these events- maybe like you mentioned reticular activation- if taken individually and/or out of context.
Or we could open our hearts and minds to the possibility. And no matter what the explanation these events have brought you some peace and comfort- and that HAD to come from Sammy.
Thanks for being brave enough to share. I think lots of us here can relate.
Karen and the pugapalooza
Your story gave me goose bumps-- good job Sammy, the packs you leave behind on Earth really, really need these signs. Congrats on the new puppy-- now the L-O-N-G wait!
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
Crazy? Are you kidding? We love this story!
Thank you for sharing it with us, we're so glad you did.
Our own personal theory is that when a loved one passes on, their energy never disappears, it just changes form. Sammy's energy was leaving you signs that everything would be OK. And it is. We're hoppy to hear you'll be puppy pawrents again.
It really makes you think when stuff like this happens!

About the only thing I found crazy in your story was the finding "solace in housework." UGH!!! The rest of the story was very sweet. I'm glad Sammy is telling you he's okay.

I think this is beautiful, and I don't believe you are crazy 🙂
We talk with our dogs all the time with our minds, they respond the same. This is just an extention of that. Thank you very much Beth for sharing your story.
