Here are a few things that I have discovered as the years have accumulated.
1) I can finally stop planning for retirement. (I've been fooling myself for long enough )
2) I can move to Panama, retire and save big $$$ under their "Discount Retiree Program" 50% off just about everything. The age requirement is > 18. I qualify!
3) I can take off work for a year and go hiking.
Some more things on the discovery road:
1) Getting a partial denture is great for weight loss.
2) I can finally wear high heels and not worry because no one checks out women who are over fifty and I spent my youth making sure no one would notice me.
3) Laughter lines are sexy.
4) I'm okay with being ridiculous.
5) I'm totally okay with laughing at myself.

Oh Fortis! I had to cover Comet's eyes from that picture! I can't have her seeing your bobo and jinglies! It even scared your "Fortis Blog" off your sig line!
no one checks out women who are over fifty
Hey! I won't hear of any of that missy! I betcha if you and I put on super high heels and a tight skirt (one that covers the knees and not too tight - I don't want to be uncomfortable while sitting), AND we stood up straight, we'd get noticed!
Gotta love being tall!

Okay everyone, I missed this entire thread because I was in Bad River, Wisconsin ALL WEEK working my a** off. Not to mention it was cold (not as cold as you Carmen, but downright chilly), there was no place to work out at the "Lodge" (not), and I was told I couldn't run outside because of the bears. Seriously. I could have used the interaction.
Since I can't respond to each and every post, I'll say this. Carmen - you know how I feel about the high heels, go forth sister. I wear them every day and I love being over 6 feet tall. Makes me taller than the criminals. Cooper - you DO NOT need lipo. Love your body or exercise more. 🙂 In fact, screw the exercise, we love you just how you are, photo fat neck and all. Brett - I will get on a plane tomorrow (and I HATE to fly), if it means I get to see you in a mini skirt. Tights and heels and all, or just the skirt? Inquiring minds want to know. Ge'Lena - I have a feeling you could wear what ever you want and still pretty much look hot!
Oh, and as to the wrinkles, of which I have many, embrace Shakespeare - "With mirth and laughter, let old wrinkles come"!
Thanks for this smile early on a Saturday morning. I'm happy to be home, not just physically, but because I get my tripawds family back!

Holy crap, I've missed out also. Well ladies let me start by saying, I check out women over fifty, cause that ain't old!!!, and at 50 most women aren't stuck on themselves, so thats just natural beauty coming out. Brett in a mini-skirt, dude, I hope you don't wear it like the scots, although they say you can find resemblenses in a dog and owner, let's just say Fortis' picture is all we need. . We've done a couple cruises, all caribbean, but anybody we talked to that has cruised Alaska loved it
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
"With mirth and laughter, let old wrinkles come"!
You left off the last part:
"With mirth and laughter, let old wrinkles come" and then let the wrinkle disappear with Restylane injections.
Ge'Lena – I have a feeling you could wear what ever you want and still pretty much look hot!
Aw. That was nice to say Rhonda! Or were you referring to the, you "look hot" because of sweat on my brow and lip from hot flashes??!!! I'll agree with you on that one!
Dan, some of us on not on your radar YET - were too young! You'd almost be robbing the craddle by looking at Rhonda! And Carmen doesn't even look her age!

I absolutely loved Alaska! I went here in July and visited Fairbanks, Denali National Park, Anchorage, and then went on a 7 day cruise. Trip of a lifetime. Oh yeah, and I got to hold Husky puppies and learn about sled dogs! Makes me think about Calpurnia. Oh, and in case you missed it on the A.M.B.F. thread, Ranger has quite the monkeybut too
As for getting older, I can say the following:
1) My assets are in better shape than my a$$ is.
2) I no longer have prospective employers asking "Where do you see yourself in 10 years?"
3) When I was young, I wore makeup to look older, now, if I wear it at all, it's definitely to look younger.
4) The older I get the more weight I lose (because the older I get, the more weight I gain)
5) I'm happier spending my Saturday night here than at a bar!
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

As I grow older some things I've learned:
1) Be thankful for the things you have in your life, especially the small things
2) Don't stress over what you cannot change
3) Be comfortable with where you are or get the hell out
4) Dog friends are the best (that includes the dog and the owner)
5) Those aren't wrinkles, they are time lines
6) The more weight you gain, the more you can loose!
7) Grey is a color, it isn't as nice a color as the red I've had all my life, but it's a different color.

Oh Ge'lena, your killin' me!!!! I'm young at heart, mind and good intentions, what more could a lady want!!!!
As I have " matured ":
I don't try to impress anybody, what you see is what you get
If I don't get it all done in one day, so what
I thought marriage was a points system, I just don't know why she always points her finger at me
I figured if I got smarter as my kids got older, I did ok

The more weight you gain, the more you can lose ...
I never thought of it like that! LOL!
All the talk about Coop's poor neck earlier inspired me to go check on mine.
Yes. It's true. The mirror doesn't lie. There is the start of a turkey neck happening here. I checked it from all angles. We are not amused. Every bulb in the house must now be replaced with nothing than 4 watts

Once again Brett, I had to cover Comet's eyes with your photo! That's nasty!
Dan, I made my husband buy off the Senior Menu at IHOP a couple of weeks ago because it was cheaper!
Lisa, I may be a couple of months older than you, but I don't trust you in the 'hot flashes' department. As a pharmacist, I bet you've whipped yourself up a concoction to make them go away!
