It appears I've been avoiding this board again. It's been a long, not so great month for myself, and from what I've seen...not so great for many of you here. I wanted to offer my thanks for your support, and a giant blanket of condolences to all those that have been lost so very recently. So often, this is such a happy, celebratory place, but it's easy to forget just how sad it is when the celebration ends.
Anyway, I had mentioned a while back that my husband is an artist, and would love to offer to paint any tripawd that would like to have a portrait done. We had an art show this weekend, so we've been backed up (sorry Willow's mom!! I do have a "work in progress" picture for you right now!), but if you don't mind that he has a (crazy demanding day job) so his paintings can take a few weeks on average, PLEASE just send me your favorite pictures. It's nice to have a few to choose from, to get the colors and shadows right. He is NOT trying to sell these; they're being offered free of charge because I'd bop him upside the head if they weren't Most of his photos are on his laptop/phone, so I can just give y'all an idea based off of the ones I've found on this computer.
Willow, this is your first layer of paint, no where near done, but I didn't want you to think we forgot youThis is a friend's 4 legged friend, but it's a decent representation of a "finished" portrait.
And this was G-dawg, under his tree, the day before his amputation.
WOW, what talent! Seriously awesome and super generous too, thanks for your kindness.
I'm sorry you've had a ruff month. We're all ready to put April behind us, that's for sure.

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Incredible art.....from incredible human beings!
I just want to acknowledge how mich we miss Grady too. One of my favorite posts of yours was avout the things you had "learned".....like it was okay to eat someof your sandwich before giving him the rest......and lettingnhim upon the couch even if he still was wet from his bath and your husbands remarks..."Ah...what's he doing n the couch wet?" and the banter you two jad avout it! I love hearing how happy he was and how it truly was a life well lived!
Iposted a "link" of a "card" Happy Hannah made fr Grady on o e of yor earlier posts but I don't think it ever got "printed". I hoe you can go back and fnd it...I think t will make you smile.
Sending you love, compassion and lots of empathy! No, we'l never forget Grady!! His joy for life will forever be part of us, okay?

Oh my gosh!! Yes, please!! Yes, please!! Such talent! I too want to pay for one. How do you want to receive the pictures..email...private message?
Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13. Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14. She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self. Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14
I'm sorry you've had a rough month. April has been hard for a lot of people here, and will always be hard for me because I had to let Willow go April of last year
I didn't think you or your husband had forgotten about the painting. I remembered that you said there was an art show this past weekend, so I was expecting that it would be put on hold until after the show. Thank you for the update. Your husband's work is beautiful, and I'm thrilled beyond words that he is so generous with his time and his talent.
Let's hope that for those of us who have had "April Showers" that May brings lots of "flowers", although we all know there couldn't ever be enough "flowers" to make up for the losses.
Hugs,
Carol
Awwww, Sally, I still have the card on my phone
Really, he doesn't want to be paid for these. If anyone wants to donate/reimburse their canvas, that's perfectly fine, but as far as his time goes...well, Grady didn't exactly charge by the minute for ear scritches or snuggles, either Honestly, this is something he'd be doing every night anyway, except he'd be spending a lot more time staring into space trying to figure out what to paint next if he didn't already have a list!
You can email me pictures at stellblu@gmail.com. Please, send as many as you'd like, especially if the lighting is different, so he can try to get the "real" color as close as possible. And let us know which your favorite is! He normally won't do anything bigger than about 16x20, simply because it gets harder to ship.
And just cause we love pictures...
Saturday has always been "Grady Day", and we've kept that up with Jack Straw. Since we're training him as a therapy dog, getting him used to people/dogs/strollers/wheelchairs and anything else that comes his way starting at 3 months has been just awesome. This puppy, although he gets into puppy trouble, has an "old soul", and he's really mellow. It's been rough having to explain where Grady went, but Jack's so darn lovable that he stops the tears pretty fast. Anyway, I took a few pictures of him at our booth on Saturday (and watching our friends play guitar while we got food and drinks later that evening).
Oh...and Grady was out on the Square, too:
Pardon the size of this next one...my husband likes the panoramic feature on my phone He is just such a chill puppy!!
And then there's the "music all around, waitresses rushing, Jack just swimming in his water bowl, doesn't even ask for a bite of burger" cool as a cucumber shot:
Puppies are just love!!
I love these. He does beautiful work. We could never forget Grady

I agree, Michelle...such talent. I will start looking at pictures and try to narrow it to a few. I'm so excited to get in line! Thank you so much for doing this.

Oh, I also would love one!! What a beautiful and generous offer. Especially as you have suffered such a recent loss. Grady was so very special and will be missed. Jack Straw is adorable! I would reimburse for the canvas and shipping, just let me know how much. I too, have to look thru pics. The one he did of your friend's dog looks a lot like my TY. How wonderful to have that kind of talent. And then to share it so unselfishly, Cannot even find adequate words to say Thank You!

You are so generous.... of course I will pay for the materials and shipping It is the least I can do. I will look for some photos of Shelby that capture her how I wish to remember her. She had the most amazing face and ears ... so expressive!
It's been a rough month and I definitely hope that May brings some flowers from all these April showers as Christine said.
thank you again for the most wonderful gift for my beautiful heart dog!

Alison, I agree. I cannot wait to turn the calendar over to May.
