Linda was kind enough to point out that we have serious case of bloomers going on (just like Meg), but that with Manni being a manly male "bloomers" might not be a fitting name. Very true!!! says Manni.
Now, in German I would call it something that would translate roughly as "pants", or "trousers". However, maybe "Knickerbockers" makes more sense?? Can I have a vote here, good people of Dogland? (and no, there won't be dogtoral college this time...).
please note that trimming is out of the question, as per Manni's wishes, we do brush them and as you can see in the accompanying pictures, bathe them. See, slugs want a place to call home, too! 🙂 🙂
So to help you in the decision-making process: these are the knickerbockers we're talking about. If you have more manly-ones at home, feel free to share!!

Our kitty vote if you will allow the kitties😉 Would be "Knickerbockers considering were the furry part ends. Manni we love your knickerbockers, pants or trousers whatever you decide to call them! I'm glad to see your not asking for the vote to cut them you know where we stand on cutting knickerbockers:) Give Manni a hug from us when he is sleepy and allows them😍 I would have hard time with the no hugging of Manni:)
Hugs to Mom since we know you are a hugger, I am the same way!

I can't see a vote is needed, to be honest, Tina. They are so very obviously PANTALOONS.
And what's more he has the lovely long legs to carry them off. Meg does not.

LOL! 🙂
You're testing my English here again! I know that word as the (almost) Spanish word for pants. Had to look it up for English.
this is what you get when you google knickerbockers. which I thought made sense.
this however, is what you get when googling pantaloons.
So no, I don't agree.
Knickerbockers 2, pantaloons 1

Da Bears say if crossing international boundaries, new lingo is a must. But then, Da Bears are extra sweet and only want Da World to get along. Dat's Da Bears. Here at Da Bear HQ we have looooong called them pantaloons (it just rolls off our Southern accent tongues) but would definitely NOT call them knickerbockers as that is more closely associated with early 20th century baseball players. What we may also term them is BRITCHES aka "You are getting too big for your britches!" However, regardless of the lingo, Da Bears earlier voted for removal at all times. So no pantaloons, knickerbockers, britches are visible at Da Bear HQ (long story as to why...which involves the Vet School...sigh...)
so we're at a 2-2 tie. huh.
and maybe in the warm south removal is an option, over here, close to the Arctic Circle, that would make for very cold cheeks indeed 🙂

Haha!!! You are right! In the South, we have to shave down (which took us years to accept:(
But the bloomers, pantaloons, knickerbockers are always an issue here. Cold cheeks! LOVE IT! And, it is a very handsome, beautiful look!
Da Bears, having been the working dogs they are their whole lives, are rather without any sense of style...
Oh my goodness! Too funny! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
And Manni, I love that you are so proud of your manly manhood! As those pictures show, you have a lot of ManniManhood on display!
Okay, eight off the bat I have to go with KNICKERBOCKERS!
Pantaloons are generally just too frilly! Now Meg does make a good point with the more "male gender friendly" pantaloons, but that photo is too much of a rarity to be classified as "mainstream" pantaloons.
And to DaBears point, I do like BRITCHES or DUNGAREES (Levi Jeans)
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Ha! Thank you Sally!! 3-2 , so far.
I do like britches, too (Manni is asking what the "r" is for though 🙂 ), but that does remind me a whole lot of horseback riding and while Manni has accompanied horses he's never mastered the art of riding them... so maybe we can agree on those lovely dungarees as a way to cover up the knickerbockers??

Then this is a British/US English thing. There was nothing frilly about British pantaloons. They were simply male trousers. The sort they wear in Shakespeare. Ballooning at the top of the leg and then tapering in. You must have added the frills as they crossed the Atlantic... 😜
Of course, what we don't know (well Tina may) is what sort of English Manni speaks.

OMG ... this post!!! I do love pantaloons and knickers ...
As long as they are brushed nicely ... there is really no need to shave!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
I used to have a teacher who wore knickerbockers, and a black gown, which he used to wipe the blackboard. He walked across the fields to school every morning wearing them. Yes, really.

My first thought was pantaloons. That's what I've always called Mona's slug-catchers. So I looked up the definition:
1.pantaloons, a man's close-fitting garment for the hips and legs, worn especially in the 19th century, but varying in form from period to period; trousers.
