So ...
Those of you new to the site may not find this quite as humorous as I do, so for that I apologize.
Picture this: We moved. 1 block. There is less closet space, but more downstairs storage, in our new building. Having given over 1/2 the kitchen, all of the floor and most of the master bed to Ajax, I was very organizing in storing my things to go downstairs. Bought black trunks from the Container Store, locked them with Master locks (the kind you used to use on your locker). This was in June.
Flash forward: it is now October. Time to switch out the summer clothes for winter. And guess what didn't make the move? The trunks arrived. Locks intact. Sheets of paper with the lock combinations ...not so much.
No problem, there is a serial number on each lock, I'll call the company. Hmm. Company used to respond to such inquiries, but no longer does so. IF the lock is not attached to anything, you can take a picture, send it in and wait 4-6 weeks for a response. (why you would care, if not attached to anything, I do not know). Otherwise, it's bolt cutters.
Now you see where this is heading: me (5'3"), Ajax (75lbs and 3 legged) and the bolt cutters rented from the hardware store (about 3" long and super heavy). Traipsing through the streets of Manhattan. Some tourist even took a picture of us.
It gets worse: I thought I was so efficient, the vet and the hardware store where I need to return the bolt cutters are in the same direction. So off we went, into the vet, with a 3 legged Lab and gigantic bolt cutters.
The vet thought it was hilarious and offered to make us a bloody stump for Halloween. The other patrons, I'm not sure about.
We are so used to Ajax being an awesome tripawd that it didn't even occur to us that this was a totally grim scenario!
I love it!!!!!
But where are the photos????? We need photos (even if you have to reinact it!)
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/

Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
There are tears on my fac. I am laughing so hard. Bunny has been trying to figure oiut a zombie costume for Sam. But simply walking around with bolt cutters is hilarious!
Hooray for a sense of humor
Samdog was a 10 yr old Golden and retired SAR dog. We found a bone mass on 8/17/12, needle biopsy showed sarcoma 8/22/12, amputation on 8/23/12, post-amp biopsy confirmed osteosarcoma on 8/28/12. Sadly, we found lung mets on 11/27/12 and my Spirit Sam earned his wings on 12/2/12.
We didn't know where we were headed and we don't regret a single step along our path. It all happened too fast, but he left a legacy of love that we will always cherish. Good bye my heart.

Oh man, I don't think we took a pic! Will have to walk Ajax to hardware store and see if they will let me borrow giant bolt cutters. There is a pic, but taken by a random tourist ...
I do have some other good pics (tripawd tug of war with Ajax and Wayne, etc) but as admin knows, I am remedial and therefore slow to post
Drats!
Now that random tourist is going to go home and show folks how crazy you New Yorkers really are! Not good for the rep!
Well, feel free to send us any pics you want to post, we're hoppy to help.

Too funny, and just in time for Halloween! You might have to go rent them again next Wed!
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman.
