Hello All!! As some of you know I have been patiently waiting for my first Foster Dane. Well Today I got him! He was a stray that was on the run for 4 weeks and couldn't be caught. He ended up being caught by the Humane Society right in my home town. The shelter named him Dupree after a running shoe. He is a mantle marked Great Dane and he is approx. 3 years old. They don't know where he came from or anything about him. He is really skinny from being out in the world all by himself for a month and he was covered in ticks. Over 300 they said. He is extremely calm and he loves everyone. My Doberman Emalee and my cat seem fine with him. Right now he is taking a nap. I am taking him to the vet in a couple of days for follow up care and to get his foot looked at. The pad of his foot is a little swollen. But he is walking fine. I have had so many emotions about this. It's really strange having a different Great Dane here. But I am really happy. I will try to post some pics when I get a chance.

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Congratulations! How about you work a little quicker on getting pics posted?!
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Oh Angel, I am so happy for you! There is nothing quite like the love of a Dane and I can't imagine a more wonderful home for him to be in! Even though I am sure he is different than Valentina, I am sure there are some of the endearing Dane characteristics that are wonderful to have around.
Dane Mom Sue at nova.tripawds.com and Mom to Beautiful Great Dane Queen Nova, a Blind Tripawd, who kicked cancer's butt from 11/08-03/13. The Queen is Spirit Nova now, but her legacy lives on here at Tripawds!
Oh hooray! I was so excited for you as soon as I saw the title of your post! Dupree could not have landed in a better spot! Can't wait to hear how he does and see some pics.
Treats all around to celebrate!

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Whooopeeee for Dupree! That's so cool, congratulations Momma!
It's funny, I thought of you today when I saw the coolest, biggest Merle Dane in the back of a pickup truck. He was gorgeous. Other than the fact that he was untethered in the back, which bothered the heck out of me, I couldn't help but smile thinking of you and Valentina.
If anyone can nurse Dupree back to health, you can. He ran right to you.
Can't wait to see pics!

Love Never Ends
Yay! Remember very recently when we said "the right dog is out there but has to make its way to you"? It's true! He was running around out there looking for a map. Thankfully he found his way. I'm sure it feels odd to have a different Dane in the house. Maybe Dupree can show you how the boy Danes live. However that is, I'm sure it's living LARGE! Have fun with getting to know him and like Lisa said, can you hurry up with the pictures?!

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
