Oh my gosh I am SO sorry to hear this. My condolences go out to you, this is terrible. It's outrageous that MRSA is so bad there, I had no idea.
You may want to check out the Bella Moss Foundation if you haven't already. They are very active in MRSA prevention at vet hospitals, and a good resource if you want to spread the word about MRSA dangers in your part of the world.
My heart goes out to you and your family.

I was in close contact with Jill Moss and her team at the Bella Moss Foundation. More and more dogs are being infected and it's too bad that we do not jump on the bandwagon like the UK. Things need to change before it is too late. I am just 1 voice but hopefully I can yell loud enough!
I created a website that tells the whole story. The pics are graphic and the story not so nice to read but all is based on fact. I don't want my dog's death to be in vain.
One voice can definitely get others involved, please don't give up. Thank you for sharing Cashew's story. Please know he did not die in vain, you have already helped people just by coming here. Feel free to post his website link on the links we shared with you above. The more folks who know, the better.

We have a dog here that became a tripawd due to an MRSA infection after surgery. His name is Bud and his human's user name is "anjl." They are in Wyoming. They had quite the wild ride with Bud during his illness and I believe I am not out of line in saying they feel Bud to be a miracle dog. The family joined this site at the same time I did and I know we were going through amputation a day apart, though Bud had been very ill for awhile. You can do a search for anjl's posts, especially the first one she started, where she introduces Bud and tells his story. She doesn't write a blog but her forum posts have been quite informative.

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
Thanks Shari! The blog post we link to, about preventing MRSA , has links to Bud's story. That should make it easy to find.

bjen,
Sorry but I think there may have been confusion on where to posts your links. I deleted the new posts you started in the various topics on the forums since they were duplicates. Click the link provided by Jerry to post your story. Only one post here on the forums is necessary (this one).
Thanks for sharing.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
So sincerely sorry to hear that your pup lost the battle to MRSA , I very much understand what heart wrenching nasty business it is!
I am pretty sure that Bud aquired his MRSA from the vet hospital. He had it in his bone and skin. It wasn't discovered until the amputation. It tested sensitivity to 4 drugs however throughout the treatmen the MRSA mutated and became resistant to 2 of them. We finally won with drug #3. He was so sick he almost was hospitalized and put on IV.
Jill Moss was also available to us during the ordeal and very helpful along with our Tripawd cheering and support squad. Awareness is a great thing! Bud's story is on both websites.
Sending heart healing wishes to you!
