We would like to introduce our new puppy, Gracie. She is an 8 week old pure bred Golden Retriever that was born with a deformed front paw, and is just the sweetest little girl. We picked her up last Sunday night and she has been wonderful.

We plan to train Gracie as a companion dog for our 9 year old daughter, Ashley, who has high functioning autism.

Meggy (our senior Golden) already loves Gracie and she is really good with her. She seems to knows she is a puppy and doesn't mind  her chasing her or climbing on her. Meggy does correct her when she bites too much.

Gracie is so laid back and unaffected by everything. Even Ashley's loud crying in the car (she had a toothache) didn't bother her. She looks at our 2 kitties, but doesn't try to chase them or pest them, so they are really curious about her, and have already gotten really close to her trying to check her out without growling or hissing.

I am including 2 pictures of our Tripawd Kitty Roo (he has radial hypoplasia) watching her from his favorite place to play under the dining room table.  Gracie's left arm is shorter, and is fixed in a bent position. Her paw feels a lot like one of Roo's. She has some toes, but there is no bone in them. She has paw pads, but no claws. She tries to walk on her paw, but it is too short. She runs / hops on three legs.

Here is a picture of Ashley and Gracie the night we came home.

Awww puppies are sooo adorable!!! You certainly have a huge heart since you have 2 tripawds in 2 species!! My tripawd Chloe lets our cat (little rascal he is) play attack her all the time and also "corrects" him when he bits a little too hard (cats have sharp teeth!). But he loves her for it and sometimes sells out us humans to curl up on Chloe's bed with her. I digress... Cute pup! I am sure Gracie will have a long life full of love!!

-Chloe's mom

Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
