Today I took the quad pugs down to see our holistic vet- just routine stuff. My 13 year old Tani has been deaf for a couple of years, but she knows hand signals, and watches Obie for cues.
The reception/vet tech called us in and we stopped at the scale. We weigh Obie first since he responds to voice commands, and it shows Tani what we are doing. After Obie I start with the hand signals to get Tani up on the scale and into a sit, then tell her to come as we head to a room.

The tech puts her hand up to her mouth and whispers "she's deaf, right?"

I whisper back "it's OK, she knows she's deaf"

I don't think she got it....

Love it!

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Well, sometimes someone's good heart makes up for other areas....at least she was thoughtful enough to whisper so as not to insult Tani.
