After two days of being a total frightened pooch due to the bombs being set off at night in our beach hood, we went out today for a little walk! I wonder if she got too hot (she panted, a lot and I am not used to having a black dog so I can only imagine how much that fur must overheat). It's about 80 here w/100% humidity (feels like it).
But she did so great! We got almost all the way to the beach but I knew it would be super crowded so we turned around. This was about a 2 mile walk for us.
SO proud of her! Ignore my annoying voice! 🙂
Oh and when we got back, she's crashed out - I haven't seen her sleep this hard since she first moved in.
And (LOL) - apologies to cat owners ... Jasper is really cat friendly; she doesn't fear them or chase them, she wants to play. Well the neighbors cat was drinking from the big fountain in our courtyard and Jasper ran up to her and jumped up to see and SPLASH, kitty in the water and Jasper covered in water. I swear she didn't push that cat in there (or maybe she did) but I promise, she just wanted to play!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
WOW!! Look at that girl go!! Did she keep that pace up the whole time?
I LOVE that you are speaking Spainish to her!!! LOL! You are a very good Madre to Jasper!!! She's such a pretty girls..my oh my...those ears!!! ADORABLE!.
"Beach hood"?? You crack me up!!
Can't wait for you to see Cassie's post about the cure for thunder and firworks and try it on Jasper!! It may freak her out more, but it's worth a try!
Jasper Lily realky is walking well on a leash and seems to be very confident. How is she when she gets close to home? Does she slow down, sniff around knowing she's on her home turf, or does she speed up and can't wait to get inside?
LOVE!

Wish we had the "fountajn and the cat" in video!! That would have been a YouTube hit!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
I'm so happy that Jasper is settling in with you. She looked like she was on a mission during that walk and not scared at all. Way to go Jasper!!!

May you finally be healthy and running free at the Rainbow Bridge. Until we meet again my sweet boy!
Awe.. thanks you guys! Yes, she keeps that clip most of the time on our walks. She doesn't really stop and sniff but rather sniff as she goes ... nose to the ground. Normally her tail is "up" a bit more so I could tell she was a tad apprehensive but nothing like 2 weeks ago! She was literally so low to the ground as if she was trying to be as flat as possible!
When we get close to our apt, she perks up her tail and hops a bit ... she knows where she is and she knows how to get there for sure!
Her ears are always FULLY up when we are walking. Some guys on harleys went past us and I tried to cover her ears to muffle the sound and it didn't really work ...
What is funny is that ONLY by our street does she run and bark at people on bicycles... several rode past us on the walk and she didn't pay attention.
And yes, our beach is so close to LAX that it is not as beautiful or popular with the tourists as Santa Monica or other famous LA beaches .. we get the hoodlums from the city who come out here for the day!
She's getting there .. now only if we could conquer her fear of the car ... either it's my driving or the music (even though I put on Spanish tunes for her)!

She looks like she is doing great! A Ruffwear Swamp Cooler might help with those long walks on hot days. They are great - but people will look at you like you are crazy for putting a coat on your dog when it is 90 degrees out. My friend's big fluffy rough coated collie (the Lassie type of collie) won't go more than 1/2 a block without her swamp cooler in this weather, Steph has actually been scolded by people for putting a coat on her collie in this weather, once she explains what it is they are usually pretty impressed though.
Keep up the great work Jasper!!
Seems like Jasper is doing awesome. I am so proud of both of you 🙂 Keep up the great work Alison

Wayyyy too cute! That's terrific that she's getting more courageous. Sure seems that way judging by the kitty incident! Too funny!
