As many of you know, Denali made her way to the bridge on 11/23/2010.
Back in Feb, I introduced a new dog to my household! She has all 4 legs, so I no longer have a tripawd, but I thought you guys would love her just the same. Her name is Nessie, she's a Newfoundland
Here she is when I just got her
Here she is now with her teal ball
I'll be honest, I was not ready for her, but Loki REALLY needed a companion after Denali's lost. He's doing MUCH MUCH better and for the most part, I think he loves Nessie (but gets annoyed at her puppy-ness)

She is so cute! I'm glad Loki has a new friend. I sometimes worry that I should be more receptive to Duke having a new friend. I know he misses his buddy.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.

What a cute ball of fur! Here's to hoping Nessie has a wonderful and long life!
-Chloe's mom
Chloe became a rear amp tripawd on 7-29-10. Another tumor was removed on front leg 2-20-14. Found 3rd tumor on neck 2-2015, but she's still kicking cancer's butt at age 14. Chloe's blog
Nessie is the LAZIEST puppy ever!! She's very friendly, laid back and she's pretty obedient. As far as talking - if nobody plays with her, she'll sit in front of who she wants to play with (either me or Loki) and just bark and bark and bark, other than that, she's pretty quiet. The breeder I got her from though had her as an obedience trial perspective - I wanted a therapy dog perspective, so she did fit what I was looking for. Actually, it was funny, I was on the wait list but 2 other people backed out and I got her!!! I think Denali sent her to me. I really wasn't ready for a puppy, but Loki was.
She was born 12/10/2010, I brought her home 2/25/2011 (in the midst of a snow storm) - so she's about 5 1/2 months. Loki didn't like her at first, but it only took him 1 week and 1 day to accept her (another snow storm brought them together because he wanted to play in the snow pile with somebody). Nessie's great grandpa is Josh (Westminster Best In Show Champion 2004).
Nessie was named after the Loch Ness Monster - I wanted a water name for a water dog and that's what I came up with. Her registered name is <kennel name>'s Legend of the Loch.
Her first groom appointment was today, she did fantastic the groomer said!! She weighed in at 57.2lbs!!
She started puppy school a few weeks ago. She likes all the dogs, but in her last class she seemed to fall in love with a Toy Poodle (her head is bigger than the poodle!!) The Toy poodle is the smallest dog in her class and she's the largest, so what an odd friendship .
If anybody is looking to get a Newfie pup - make sure you go with a respected breeder. So many people I know have had Newfies and for the one that did not go through reputable breeders, they all lost them before 5 yrs of age! A Newfie's parents should be heart, cysternia, knee, elbow, and hip tested and then the puppy themselves should be checked by a cardio vet at 9-12 weeks of age for any heart defects.
Sorry it took me so long to respond, been super busy with work!!

She sounds wonderful! I like mellow puppies, the are the best to squish in fluffy hugs. I love her name, "legend of the Loch" that is awesome!!

Congratulations on your new puppy!! She's so adorable! I imagine she just brings you lots of joy and happiness - with a face like that, how could she not? I can totally relate - after losing Mackenzie, my heart was broken into pieces. We just brought home a new golden retriever puppy (she's 12 weeks now) and although I still feel a huge loss for Mackenzie, this little puppy sure has opened up my heart again. Very happy for you and your new addition!
Kami, Angel Mackenzie, Kobe and Scarlett
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
