Today is Isabelle's 7 month ampuversary. She had a great day today, as the healing gods sent winter back to Chicago. The past couple of weeks have been warming up a bit, but unfortunately the damp, warmer temperatures here are tough on her arthritis. She had this problem last spring, before her first cancer diagnosis. Now, though, I have to go through every dark scenario before I accept the most logical.
She was getting tired & panting on walks outside and was laying down to rest and although it resolved almost immediately…I worried it must be lung mets, or spinal mets or a cardiac problem….She had 4 clear views of her chest less than a month ago…highly unlikely she has a lung tumor large enough to be that symptomatic, she was able to run down the stairs & down the block 4 x/day & could walk 40 mins in the underwater treadmill without panting…or even getting tired…and clearly had no rear leg weakness. Otherwise she was acting normal, playing, eating, bored, bored, bored…constantly looking to be entertained.
She was looking out of alignment…running on a bit of an angle, not walking straight in the treadmill & just not quite right standing….after a good chiropractic adjustment, extra acupuncture, and a precipitous drop in outside temperature, she's back to normal, running, playing, not wanting to go back home. So I think I finally believe this was actually age & arthritis. I'm pretty sure if Isabelle could talk, she'd say I'm crazy. She says so with her eyes all the time!
It seems we have at least 4 more days of winter temperatures, and maybe only in the 40's for the next week…that will be good for her.
Isabelle actually got to eat a beef tendon…..something she never gets…today in celebration…she almost ate Denali too, who thought he'd help himself to the other end.
It was a bunny or a rat…I'm thinking rat…she'd chase a bunny!
Whew! All straightened out again!
The snow arrived last fall before the leaves fell…even though it looks like autumn, this was today!
Awe, happy ampuversary, Isabelle! You are definitely a sweetheart. Love that stylin' coat.
And BTW, that age thing and arthritis just suck. Hope you're feeling like taking mom around the block a few times really soon.

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Happy Ampuversary Isabelle! 7 months - that's fantastic! What a beautiful girl you are. Tell your mom that our tripawds think we're all crazy so she's in good company. We are so happy that you're doing much better. Way to go Isabelle! We will definitely be celebrating tonight with lots of treats and ice cream!
Kami, Angel Mackenzie and Kobe
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Denali should BE your ampuversary treat OK, just kidding (sort of)
Way to go Isabelle!!! Ranger wishes he was there to help you celebrate!!
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.
