Well, for several reasons, not the least of which, not tempting fate, I decided to skip any mention of Isabelle's 5 month ampuversary yesterday…but the hell with it.
Five days ago she had surgery for a MCT on her only rear leg….because every good dog needs a second cancer! The pathology came back today, and I think we have come out well. It was a grade 2 tumor, but with a mitotic index of 0. Margins were clean & the tumor location (at the stifle) was ideal, allowing for a generously, wide resection. Pre-op, her chest & abdomen were still clear. Her muscle mass in that leg is well developed, so her mobility is not impaired. She ran out of the hospital & headed for the car! The worst part for her ( & her arthritis) is missing 5 sessions of underwater treadmill, but she's using her Fitpad everyday. She's getting cold laser on her incision every other day, so despite her running around every chance she gets, it's healing well. I finally gave up the battle today and let her run at will.
Two weeks ago, we went to visit her best friend in Michigan. He'll be coming to stay with us for a few weeks on Monday. Finn is only four, but the most patient soul. Last year, when Isabelle's mobility was severely impaired by arthritis, he would sit with her for hours & keep pace with her, on what must have been painfully slow walks for him. This is a clip I made for him:
Cynthia-

Hi Cynthia,
What a great video - love the music! (OK I might be dating myself now. ) Happy 5 Month Ampuversary - just wonderful!! I am so happy to read that everything came out well and Isabelle is doing great. What a welcome relief that must be for you. I think I would have given up the battle of her running around too - how could you not?
So here's to many more good reports and running in the snow!!
Way to go Isabelle!
Kami, Angel M and Kobe
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Now that's true love! How adorable!
Isabelle, you look fantastic, keep it up. Thank you for sharing this wonderful milestone, we really need it today.

Happy Ampuversary Isabelle! Your video made me smile big and proud!
I decided to skip any mention of Isabelle's 5 month ampuversary today…but the hell with it.
That's the Cometdog spirit telling you to post it! It's a celebration! When did she ever miss an opportunity for a celebratory peanut butter cookie!?!! I think Isabelle needs one too!
And Cooper, if you don't post about your ampuversary, I WILL!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Happy 5th Month Ampuversary Isabelle!~ You look fantastic! And yes, I relate to the comment of 'tempting fate' but what the hell! She deserves to party about her ampuversary!!!
Glad her MCT was removed and all sounds good!

Yeah for Isabelle! We needed to read some good news. Great news about the MCT. I had been worried about that.
I loved the video. It reminds me so much of Skyler & Chloe running in the snow together (which is very rare in Atlanta). We will celebrate tonight in honor of Isabelle & Cooper.
Cathy
Happy, happy ampuversary, Isabella! Thank you for posting this. Your video made me smile. Lovely.

She looks great!! Happy Ampuversary!!!!!
My pug Maggie had her amp because of a MCT. She had several cutaneous MCT's removed after her amp, one before the amp too. At least a couple of the post amp tumors were grade II. The tumor removed before the amp was removed with lots of skin- in fact that scar was longer than her amp scar. After she got to be 10 years old I decided not to do the big surgeries anymore- I had the just the tumors removed under a local. We did not have problems with recurrence at the same site on any of them.
Mag had two cancers also- the mast cell cancer- which she survived for almost 4 years, and then melanoma.
I totally get the tempting fate thing- seems like every time I say, or even think 'gee, we haven't been to the vet in awhile' some pug disaster strikes!!
But ampuversaries call for celebrations- and more importantly to the pugs- TREATS!!!

Thanks to everyone…Thanks Jerry, for fixing my Topic!
Hey Cooper, Isabelle thought she should celebrate for you, so she got up on her one rear leg & ate a bowl of cat food off the counter…she usually waits until I'm out of the room, but my presence (or yelling) did not discourage her, so I'm sure it was in your honor!
Happy Ampuversary!
Cynthia
Happy Ampuversay, Isabelle. I am so glad they were able to get all the tumor out and that it sounds like good news. ( Or at least good news as far as cancer goes, I mean.)
Celebrate with more cat food if you get a chance!

Hoppy Ampuversary Isabelle! Loved the video, watching the dogs living and loving life. Thanks for posting it.

Happy Ampuversary, Isabelle! Every month is a cause for celebration - don't ever forget that! We are honored to help you celebrate your achievement. If I could wake up Trouble, we'd have a snack, but she's out cold. Guess she will have to celebrate later!
