Man, I needed a good laugh! I love the descriptions, just too funny.
Well, I have a 7 month old male rotti. I have not fixed him yet because unfortunantly I found out he is related to our Tripawd Brandy. Since Brandy had Osteosarcoma, it is probably in her blood line, so after much research, I am holding off fixing him till at least 1 years old. From what I read, fixing him too early could make him 4 times more likely to develop cancer since it is in his family history.
Anyway, back to this funny post...Jake constantly has his "lip-stick" as I like to call it out for all to see. It started out of the blue two weeks ago and now it seems to be out all the time. It is especially bad in our truck. He jumps into the truck, sits down and takes his lip-stick out. I can't even look at him when it happens...In Jake's case I am sure it is just his hormones going crazy because he is so young. The vet says this phase he is going thru will pass. Most times I think it has a mind of its own, eww
Well Geeze thanks! Now it's confirmed the romance is completely at zero, zip, nada in my household! No one over here shows any signs of "love in the air"!
And here I thought it was just the humans in my household!
Oh wait! Did that come out right?? Oh, whatever....
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Well this thread sure got a lot of response quickly!
Dakota - when my mom casually asked the vet, the vet just gave her a look. I think she asked a second time, but in any case the vet did not seem to think it worth taking seriously. I spent a lot of time at the vet in those days (don't we all?) and would act as the greeting committee for everyone, human or canine, that came into the clinic. So my flag would fly, as you say, when people petted me, so my vet did get to see it in action. (ha, that will be fodder for Comet - no doubt)
I should add that I always LOVED getting petted. I'm the kind of dog that could lean into a person for an hour to get a good pet, although of course I would have fallen onto the floor to continue to reap the full benefits of the massage. I always did that, but I just don't remember the flag coming out before amputation, not to that extent.
Down the metastasis road, we did an ultrasound to look at kidneys and assorted internal organs. My mum was curious to find out if something might be putting pressure on the urethra, but I don't think they found anything wrong in that way (by that time, she had smartened up enough not to tell the ultrasound doctor why she was curious about the urethra!). Stupid mothers - they are so embarassing.
I was 8 & 1/2 yr when my leg was stolen but always a crazy and neurotic kid at heart, but I don't think I can chalk it up to teenage hormones. So I can't really give you an answer.
Shari
You have the best sense of humor!!! Thanks for bringing bright spots into our days! We haven't noticed any changes in Lucky's "manliness" post amputation, but I guess it's still early! I think Dakota's about a week ahead of Lucky - we'll let you know if we notice anything new!
Hey Admin guy- any new tee shirt design ideas?
Flying the flag proudly for Tripawds…. Tripawd Pride… or Tazzie's idea- Tripawds have more fun!
Tripawd rockets don't stay in the pocket…
Do we dare say anything about the Tri Harder designs?

Good golly, what can of worms did I open? Hmmm, maybe not the best analogy. Anyway, just to emphasize that this is not my imagination, I have had to contend with frequent displays of manhood for the last 24 hours. There is something to this "post-amp rocket launching" theory. Anyone here have any grant writing experience? I feel a Nobel prize in our future!
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
Tri harder. Oooh, bad bad joke, admin. I suppose you could put a small discreet picture of a rocket on this t-shirt as an inside joke (or outside joke, whatever).
Dakota - you do sound as though you are launching that rocket a bit much. Maybe you should mention it to your vet (and let us know what she or he says - we'll be waited with baited breath).
Blood pressure or something constricting the site in question? I can see you heading down the same embarrassing path that my mother tread.
