What a doll! Hope it's not allergies and that everything works out! She would win the doggy lotto if she got to come home with you.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
New pictures this evening look like allergies. But I'm not ruling out the possibility the flea bites just haven't completely healed. I've advised them to switch her food and see if that helps, and I think she is going for a followup vet visit tomorrow. We are guardedly watching, waiting.
Cynthia sent me info on raw and allergies yesterday and I've passed it all along to the rescue to share with the foster mom, and also shared all the info from Trouble's Veterinary Specialty Clinic days. Hopefully, she will get under control quickly.

Who ever knew we'd be hoping for fleas! But here's hoping it's flea bites and that it all works so the little peanut can come home to you!

TATE ~ Forever in our hearts.
Update on Emmi -
She will be ready to travel 9/15. We plan to kennel Duke the morning of the 16th and head out in the early afternoon. It will be a pretty quick trip for us, but we are planning a side trip to Champaign where we hope to arrive early on the 17th get a nap, and take a friend to dinner that evening. We will overnight in Champaign and head for Macomb about 6AM on the 18th. Have breakfast with our friend, the rescue owner, pick up Miss Emmi and head for Texas.
All these plans are still tentative, but if any of you Illinois folks are in the Champaign area or don't mind a road trip, I'd be happy to fit you into my Saturday afternoon. I had hoped we would have a little more time but it isn't looking like it will happen this trip.

Shanna Emmi is adorable and I believe Trouble certainly had a paw in this, I wonder if Emmi will join Coopers new little brother in the quadpawd tripawds support group? Angel Cooper has been recruiting, already got a bid in for Lloyds support.

Shanna,
I am so excited that you have decided to go for it! I was worried when I read the allergy part. This is wonderful! Fingers crossed for an uneventful trip and big hopes that Emmi and Duke become an "insta" pack 🙂

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.
We decided to just bite the bullet and do the best we can do for her if indeed it is allergies, and the rescue is beginning to believe it is. I am only hoping they will be controllable and the sleep deprivation won't begin all over again. Every time Trouble licked or scratched I woke up. I'd really prefer not to live my life that way again. I did it for Trouble and would give anything to do it again for her, but really don't want to start it over. I guess that is a little selfish, but I can't pretend what I feel isn't there.
Emmi is currently in a foster home with two other medium/large dogs. This is good as she will know how to interact before we get her home to meet Duke. I'm not anticipating any problems with the two. Duke does really well with female companions. That is all he's ever known. When Angie had him he lived with a female border collie, and then there was Trouble. i just hope he doesn't try to play to roughly with Emmi.
I'm still a little apprehensive, but am hoping this is a great move for all involved.

something to consider… i got a herbal supplement from honest kitchen called 'Sparkle'. it looks like herbal tea in a canister. i would mix a teaspoon of the sparkle with the juice from three fish oil capsules, then mix that in with the kibble for sam and gayle. sam's allergy itching really diminished. i didn't realize how much until we ran out late this week and the last two days have been much more itchy/nibbly… a new canister of sparkle is on it's way to knoxville… just might help our new cousin 'bogey' too….

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
I'm so excited for you! I think it will be a match made in doggie heaven! Ranger was fighting allergies before we adopted him. His foster mom started feeding him Natural Balance Vegetarian formula and started to improve. He lived in California, and when he got here to the Nevada desert he never had much trouble with allergies. We still feed him Natural Balance, but I changed him over to grain free limited ingredient formulas, That way, if he has a problem, I can rule out his diet pretty quickly. Just changing location may help Emmi. I can't wait to hear about your trip! Please promise us that she will never be a Monketdog!!!
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

I'm hoping to find a food she and Duke can both be happy with. Duke is on Taste of the Wild. Trouble couldn't eat it, she loved it and would always sneak some when I opened a new bag, but it made her itchy. She did eat Natural Balance for a long while - the restricted ingredients diets. I switched her to the NB reduced calorie and she really put on the pounds. That is the point we went to the home cooked.
I'll look at the 'sparkle' if we determine she is allergic. I also had someone tell me yesterday they give their dogs aloe vera in their water and it not only helps the allergy reaction, but also minimizes shedding. Anyone heard of this?
