.... we have joined the world of rescue transport. On Sunday, one day shy of Zeus' one-month Angelversary, we will be a small part of a very large effort to get Splash to his new home. This is our first transport and although I am nervous (this is a LARGE white GSD that weighs almost as much as me!) I am so very excited to feel useful again. Wish us luck!!
Lisa, Greg and all of our Angels, Zeus Merlin and Spanky
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Lisa, you are doing my dream! I've followed some of the rescue transports on the golden retriever forum and it's so -- can't find the right word, fulfilling maybe sums it up. Take pictures and let us know how you all did.
This deserves a happy face
Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/
Yes, we want pictures! Taht sounds pawesome!!!
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
You are pawesome! I can't think of a better way to honor our beloved pals' memories. Thank you for helping in such a big way. We can't wait to hear updates!

That is fabulous Lisa; I am sure it will go well. Do share how it went (and post pics of Splash-- love that name)
Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…
I just have to say - I love the term angelversary. Also love you are able to help out those who need you most. Very inspirational.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
Pawesome! My mama got into rescue after the death of her heart dog. It felt so good to give back and help so many pups find homes. It was Rosa's legacy and so many lucky dogs benefited, including all us members of the Oaktown Pack!
Zeus lives on in your heart and now in your actions as well!
p.s. We love the term angelversary too!--it definitely needs to be posted in the tripawds dictionary!
Thank you all for the well wishes! The transport went well. He was a BIG, STRONG dog and I was very thankful Greg was with me. I didn't get a lot of pictures outside of the car because Splash was quite excited and I was more concerned with making sure he didn't turn us into parasailers. In fact, I didn't get a lot of pics even in the car. We folded down the two rows of rear seats except one of the 2nd row seats so I could sit in back with him. He kept crawling into my lap (keep in mind he is a 80 lb GSD and I weigh about 105 lbs. - it was an interesting ride! ) It was bittersweet to do this but I did at least feel useful for the first time in awhile.

OMG! He looks pretty comfortable in the car! Next time you transport a large dog, come practice with Harley first. He is an 86 lb. golden (and I say 86 lbs proudly since he lost a pound or two recently).
I've been wondering how the transport went and assumed all was well since I did not see anything in news on a PA couple who abducted a white German Shepherd.

Awwww, my Momma's in love with Splash! Yeah, GSDs can be pretty nutty, we know all about that. Glad that things went well overall.
These dogs will all have better lives because of your kindness, thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
