OH MY - It's taking all of my strength to not post a pic of Diane's Mr. Fluffy because I want her to surprise you. But it's too too cute!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
In person????

Okay okay...I am so tired I can hardly see straight...a trip from airport to GG bridge that should take about 30 mins took an hour and a half and that was just the beginning of the worst traffic any of us had ever been in coming from SF to Santa Rosa...about 60 miles...we left about 12:15 or so from airport and got home at almost 3:30-4:00...awful just awful
Then, all you crate training people....I did the stupid thing....My friend Linda said to take him out after playing, sleeping, eating. So I had fed him a tiny bit when we got home and then decided to go ahead and feed him the remainder of what he would normally get...a cup and a quarter I think it is (it might be half...i'm so tired I don't remember right now) but I am also going to give him canned so I gave him the rest of the can of food with a cup of kibble...a different kibble than he was eating at home and he wasn't eating canned there. So I took him out and he peed...YEA...now for 38 years I have had older dogs showing younger dogs how to use doggie door so I wasn't concerned about when they pooped or peed or whatever...so I put him in the crate after he peed. and I put the pics on facebook and he is in the crate in the bedroom raising hell. Okay, book says don't take them out if they are raising hell. Then I talk to my friend Linda (she has the cousin remember? She actually found Whiskey for me)...she said...OMG...you gave him the whole can (well it wasn't a very big can)....he probably has diarrhea...yep that was why he was yelling I guess...I had made the pen smaller with the divider and found a bed that OJ hated that was huge and put it in a zippered plastic cover then put a nice cover over that and had two nice new fluffy toys in there for him...poop is everyplace, including a few plops on the newly shampooed carpet....I had to HOSE OFF the bedding before putting it in the washer....Linda says they ALWAYS poop after eating...well how was I to know...they always did it on their own!!! Casper and Whiskey...oh yea.....his name is Kumata's Reserve Label Whiskey...fluffy for fun....are getting to know each other and the funniest thing was ....I have been taking Casper outside on a halter and leash...don't want him dashing into the ivy where a snake has been spotted...Whiskey grabs Casper's leash in his mouth and was tugging him...Casper of course can't swat him..well he can but it doesn't mean much...so he does a little hiss at him but Casper's hiss and meow are very soft...so you just see his mouth opening (incidentally, took Casper to vet and he STILL has the stupid respiratory thing so now we are adding some kind of powder to his food daily to see if that kicks it)...
Okay I know you don't want the stories, you want the pictures....so let's see if I can get some on here
Those are probably the best...now Linda took some too I just haven't seen them yet. Casper will be fine I'm sure...I think his little kitty nose might be a tad out of joint because I have spoiled him beyond belief....but he hasn't gone off to pout, he is always right with us here in the den, sometimes on my lap, sometimes laying close to Whiskey...sometimes across the room...just now Whiskey went over and by accident started one of Casper's toys swinging so Casper is sort of flipping a paw at the swinging toy and Whiskey's head is going back and forth and back and forth ...of course by the time I grabbed the camera.....
THANK YOU ALL for waiting for the baby with me.....now starts the chewing lessons...I just realized he is chomping on my office chair.....
I had a puppy named Kelly that we tried to crate train (had no trouble with the first dog, but she was older) Anyway, the night before we had her spayed, we fed her extra because we felt bad that she had to go a whole day without eating. At about 6am she barking her little head off, so I open the crate door and fall back asleep (on the floor next to the crate because that's the only way I could get her to stay in it most of the night.) I wake up about 15 minutes later to this ummm smell. I look down the hallway, and Kelly pooped about every 2 feet down the hall. I had no idea soo much poop could come out of such a little pup
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

Whiskey, or Fluffy, or whoever is so cute!!! You'll have lots of fun with Casper and Whiskey!
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Love him! I'll tell you what MB told a friend who just got a new puppy after many many years - "He will have you trained in no time"

Oh Diane he is ADORABLE! And Whiskey is a great name!
So glad you made it back with him yesterday, we were thinking about you all day. About that traffic....well, that's the 101 for ya. That commute is the WORST. Even on a Saturday!
I wish I could help you with crate training advice but we've never crate trained a puppy. I will however recommend you to our friend Sarah Wilson, aka "My Smart Puppy," who has some GREAT advice and discussion forums too about raising a puppy. I also strongly recommend getting a copy of her book with the same name, it's been a life saver with Wild Boy Wyatt Ray . I wish we had known about her advice many years ago (not that Jerry ever needed it that much!). Here's a blog post we did about her training methods.
Hope you have a Kong ready for him, he's gonna need it!
Congrats Mom, you look so happy! Hope the 4th with him and Casper is uneventful.

We had Julian in Kona's old plastic crate for the first week but now he is in Tazzie's large wire crate and doing much better. At first we had to block part of it off but now he weighs 46 # so he has the whole place to himself. It helps that Mastiffs are basically couch potatoes because after a minute or 2 of fussing he sleeps for several hours. Loki has also done a good job of tiring the puppy out!
I would strongly recommend the Bitter Apple spray as a deterrent to chewing furniture, wires, hands, etc. It is nontoxic and most puppies hate it.
Mr Fluffy looks very cute! I wish you lived nearby since he looks like he would be a good playmate for Julian.

Tasha lost her battle and became my Angel on May 4 2011. Forever in my heart….
OMG Pam those are the cutest faces.....well you could MOVE here (I have to much stuff to move....) then they could be playmates. Well my stupid thing of feeding too much canned and creating diarrhea has continued today...I have now washed the hall rug twice and he knows how to use the doggie door so I ASSUMED he would go out since he knows how to potty outside....just as easy to piddle on the kitchen floor apparently.....I cannot stress the importance of an older dog teaching the younger dog certain things....almost 40 years of that and boy am I missing it right now.
He HOWLED all night...not just whimpered...HOWLED and I was following this book instructions about not responding...well BS to that...at 5 am I said SHHHHHH, stop it and be quiet and probably some other things and got an hour of quiet. (I was taking him out about every 90 minutes just in case ) then this afternoon we all took a little nap and I was very stern with him and he was QUIET...oh blessed quiet!!!
Watching him and Casper is very funny...good thing Casper is quick before the little tank comes running and tries to pounce on him! Casper is one pooped kitten....
Tomorrow is doc so we shall see what we shall see....like what I should be feeding him...breeder was feeding proplan ADULT (apparently malamute breeders do that to slow down the puppy growth...HUH???? aren't they missing something important that way???) So I have something calle Orijen or something like that...a Canadian product that the pet store raves about...all food stuff in it and it is a puppy food...my downfall I think was that canned stuff!! So today it is chicken broth, rice and a little kibble.
Talk about doing stupid things...I KNEW better than to do that....wonder if we are keeping the neighbors up....
