Hey
i just wanted to say until I found this site through Leo, I never realised how many dogs suffer from bone cancer. It's so very sad that it's actually so common.
I have to hand it to you, your all amazing mummy and daddy's the strength u have all shown and still showing even though I am sure it's one of the hardest walks to take.
Your all Heros in my eyes and of course all your dogs those who found their wings and those who are still fighting through!
Lots of love
me and Leo xxxx
Proud Mummy to Leo the Trio
Thanks for the kind comments!
It is the support of Tripawds members that make this community such the warm and helpful resource it has become.
FYI: We've moved your topic here to the Anything Goes forum and edited the title to be more descriptive.
Thanks again!

I have to agree with you. Although we can't compare the pain and suffering for any pet who has an amputation be it accident, birth "defect", cruelty or cancer, I have found the stories of bone cancer and other cancers that require additional treatment especially heart breaking.
My cat's cancer was caused by a vaccine injection. I know the cause whereas we don't know the cause for any of the other cancers. I'm always sad to hear there's another new member here because of cancer. I'm glad this site exists where everyone can find hope, encouragement, poop celebrations and laughs.
Hugs to all,
Kerren and Tripawd Kitty Mona
Awww, that was very kind of you.
We are all family here. We share the fear for those just starting the journey, we share the joy with every victory, we we share the hope that each one will beat the odds!
And we share and FEEL the heartache when one of our beloved family members makes the transition out of their earth clothes. It becomes our heartache
Make no mistake about it, we certainly don't want anyone to face a "forced choice" of amputation for ANY reaso ! However, when a member joins and is a tripawd due to a reason than that other piece of crap disease, thy makes us all very happy!
Leo the Trio jas brought us so much joy and so many smiles! You are laying a foundation of knowledge for others facing this decision for their puppy. You are quite a trail blazer! Puppies born with these "deformities" will be given a chance now because you and Leo are here!! Puppies will jave a chance to live a life dull of fun and loving and spoiling!
So....THANK YOU FOR BEING HERE while YOU are on a journey in uncharted waters full of ups and downs!
Leo, and your devotion to Leo, BEAUTIFUL, just beautiful!!
So, on behalf of my beloved Eternal Light & Chunky Spiritual Being Happy Hannah, thank you! And a HUGE thank you to Jim and Rene for javing the courage and strength and compassion to stay the course after Jerry crossed over and continue to give us all a safe harbour while on this journey
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
That is so kind of you. Before we started Tripawds we had no idea that dogs even got cancer. Now, it's our mission to raise awareness and help find a cure for this awful disease. Thank you for being a part of the community and helping us do that.

Thank you...but I think most of us just do what we feel we have to do - just as you are for Leo. But definitely the thanks go to Jim & Renee for starting this site!
I've had pets all of my life, so of course I knew they got cancer...and I've lost some to cancer, but none to bone cancer before this journey with Murphy. Taz had a lot of lipomas for several years, and we had him on a fat-free diet. When we lost him it was quick, but the vet found large tumors in his spleen & liver on x-ray. So we don't know what kind of cancer. We had one cat, Princess, that we lost at 16 years to breast cancer; and another cat, Midnight, who probably had what Kerren's cat had - he developed a lump about where he had gotten his vaccines. I had had it aspirated once (not my regular vet), but it only showed inflammation. Eventually it got larger and painful, broke open and he was losing weight :(. He was almost 14 when we lost him. I don't know that we were ever really offered treatment for them, well, for Midnight we would have been, but when my regular vet finally saw the lump it was large and would have been a more difficult surgery. I'm not sure if we would have done amputation at that point or not...hard to say...

Murphy had his right front leg amputated due to histiocytic sarcoma at 7 years old. He survived 4 years, 2 months & 1 week, only to be taken by hemangiosarcoma at 11 1/2 years 6/12/17

I can't really add much other than Thank you. We do what we need to for our fur kids. Sally always knows the right things to say and she is our biggest cheerleader even when she is going through her own struggles. We are one big family here

I would have been lost without this amazing website and forum. NEVER in my life have I experienced SUCH kindness from STRANGERS! It is unlike any other. I vowed after Shelby passed to continue her life and legacy by coming back here.... as the memories of Shelby's illness fade from my consciousness... I just strive to be an extra 'cheerleader' and shoulder to cry on. And one that will always celebrate every milestone!!!
XOXO

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
I agree! I have made so many wonderful friends here. Even though I am not on here as much ( new Grandson and I am busy babysitting) I still love and appreciate all of you. I have no idea what I would have done without Tripawds. People I had never even met understood exactly what I was going through. Plus, I had the pleasure of actually meeting some of these dear, kind souls last May. They are as wonderful in person as on here. Thanks Tripawds! Lori, Ty & Gang

Thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. We never want to see any furface come here for any reason but stories like yours help us so much! It takes our minds off our own troubles for a while and we can be cheerleaders for you. There are so many here who have adopted a tripawd by choice because they know what a rich life a tripawd can and does have. We lost our battle with cancer this week, but I find myself drawn back here every day to see if I can help someone who is in the same bad place I was almost 5 months ago. (I think I'm addicted). Please continue to update us on that precious Leo. He's in our hearts and we all love seeing and hearing about him just like he was our own. And Lori Congrats on your Grandchild. Grandchildren are such a piece of our hearts.

Linda, this addiction (because if you have it so do I) is better than some that I can think of. Yes, there are many ups and many downs (like we grieve the loss of Max too) but I would much rather be here than some other place. You all are my family. Helped me through my journey with Sassy and if I can help someone then I will.

Ditto Michelle! Helping others IS a wonderful addiction!
And congrats on the two legged Grandbaby Lori!
Linda, all I can say is Max is soooo proud of you. He knew the depth of compassion you had for others, and he knew you would continue to help others in his honor.
