Lessons learned by vets

I found this on one of my facebook pages, Colonial Newfoundland Club and Rescue....(I almost adopted one of these gentle giants right before I got my Polly) Very much enjoyed the article, and gives a happier outlook on so much in our lives....

Love to all,

What a beautiful share Bonnie, thank you so much! I have bookmarked it and sent it to a few people :)!

I loved the '* Losing a body part or looking older doesn’t mean we have to give up on dreams and goals.', so true when we look at our tripawds!

Hugs and thanks again,

Alana and pack

Very nice Bonnie and Polly. Some many great pearls of wisdom!

One thing our dogs and cats have mastered from the second they jump into their earth clothes...PLAY LIKE YOU MEAN IT!!!! Love that!

Thank you Bonnie, this is beautiful. I'm always so impressed when a scientific minded person like a vet can write so beautifully! I certainly can't write scientifically! Neat to have both of those talents.

We can apply these lessons by showing people we love our exuberance for their presence, learning to live life in the moment, having fun every day, savoring and appreciating our food, shelter and loved ones, creating great joy around us, and always, always leading with our hearts

You all are quite welcome for the post......it surely filled my heart with hope and a bit more happiness to start this new year, and a promise of upcoming joy perhaps for some of us.

Alana, that was one of my favorite quotes from this article, too......very fitting for all of us here....

Sally, yep, playing like you mean it and enjoying every second of it !!

And Jerry, the quote you re-posted is perhaps the MOST meaningful of the entire article....it also warms my heart when a veterinarian can express such warm, thoughtful, caring emotion as this one did.

Much Love,
Bonnie & Angel Polly

I enjoyed reading this very much. I've often said that a vet has to be a saint in order to do what they do.

I have to share this story of our own vet. One of the times I had to take Harmony in, he came into the room with a mask over his nose and mouth. I didn't pry and just wrote it off to him being cautious with a bad cold or something. But then he proceeded to apologize for wearing the mask as if it made him appear rude since we couldn't see whether he was smiling or sticking his tongue out.

He said that he was helping a dog who came around and bit part of his upper lip off. And here he was gently coddling our Harmony and telling her he was sorry for making her uncomfortable during her visit.

My respect for this man rose by 100% and I never looked at him the same again.

The next time we came in to see him, he had the mask off and I commented that you couldn't even tell he had restorative surgery.

I'm sure St. Francis will be waiting at the Bridge as well for such a saint.

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Pam,
I loved your story about your vet, he definitely sounds like a sweet guy ......!! And I agree on the St. Francis assessment...!
