Personally, I think it should be national dog day EVERY day for all the joy they bring to us ... here are a few of my favorite fur friends!
Of course, #1 is the "love of my life" - Miss Shelby Lynne
#2 is Ginger - my dad's dog who was with him when he passed. Sadly, she never recovered from that and had to be put down a little less than a year after he passed for health issues... I like to believe she died of a broken heart (their bond was unlike any other)
#3 is Misty - the first dog I ever had as a child growing up. We had other dogs but Misty was MY dog - I got her in 4th grade - she eventually become incredibly bonded with my mother and lived to the ripe old age of 17.
#4 - And little Jasper Lily ... who is quickly making herself happy and at home in my life ...
Who are the special dogs you've had in your life?!?
Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
I don't have pictures of my first dog. I will have to get some from my Mom. Her name was Tippi, she was a poodle, snauzer mix. She lived to be 16. Died of cancer:(. Muffin my Aussie, Border collie mix! she lived to 14, died from ?? She just got to the point she could not stand by herself. Bingo, a stray Beagle that adopted us, she died at around 8 from cancer:( Ty who you all know, best Black Lab ever! I now am owned by Chandler a Border collie, Golden mix and Lucy, a Corgi. Happy National Dog day!!!!! I agree, every day should be a celebration of our furry pals! Lori and Ty
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
I agree! Personally, I think it should be national dog day EVERY day for all the joy they bring to us. For those of you on Twitter, please see some Tripawds love and see my stream @va_deb -- pls feel free to RT to help me celebrate Lexie's life (see post in Coping forum).
I would love to see some Tripawds get noticed today in social media!
Deb and Angel Lexie* Diagnosed at age 13. Tried radiation first; wish we had amputated upon diagnosis (even with lung mets). Joined Club Tripawd April 2014 & Lexie loved life on 3 legs! Advice: Start physical therapy as soon as your vet clears it, especially hydrotherapy if available :-) See Lexie pics here.
Even the cat obliged. .
