Boo was 9.5 when we were told she had osteosarcoma. We were given the usual story; remove the leg (remove the pain) and she should get another 6 months. So, Boo became a tripawd and we lived each day to the fullest. We made it to the 6 month milestone and sincerely celebrated her 10th Birthday. Each day was a huge gift! Then a funny thing happened, Boo just kept on living! We celebrated her 11th Birthday....and TODAY we are celebrating her 12th Birthday!
For those of you at home keeping score:

Scout: January 31, 2002 to November 7, 2011
Scout's diagnosis was "poorly differentiated sarcoma"; amputation 1/11/2011. Scout enjoyed 9 fantastic years on 4 legs and 9 glorious months on 3 legs. If love alone could have saved you…

charon & spirit gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.

Jackie, Angel Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Thats fantastic! Hoppy Birthday Boo!!!
Spirit Samson was Spirit Tripawd Daisys four legged "brother" and ruled as the self proclaimed head of the Monkeybutt Federations East Coast Division. Lady Chunky Monkey stayed from Oct 2011 and left for the bridge in Apr 2012. Miss Perdy is left and has some big pawprints to fill.

Happy Birthday Boo! May you have many more!! I absolutely LOVE it when these kiddos make the vets look so silly!!
Lisa and Zeus
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Happy Birthday Boo!!! Hope you had a great day!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Thanks everyone for sharing the love! I remember when Boo was a new tripawd I was always searching for success stories. Now that Boo has indeed become one, I like to share that hope with others! ....all your support and well-wishes are icing on the cake!
Karen - thanks for the reminder! (Ashamed to admit - we stopped keeping track)! Yes, this week Thurs March 8 will be Boo's 30-month ampuversary!
And we'd share all the Birthday pics...but this was a party fit for an ex-racing (old lady) greyhound so it was mostly just treats and naps! The tag-line "Adopt a 40mph Couch Potato" is funny because it's TRUE!
Thanks again everyone for your love, support, and for sharing YOUR stories with us! Tripawds Rule!
