I am so happy to report that five weeks after amputation, Guinness' x-ray is clean.  Words can't describe how excited I was to hear this news!!  He goes back in three months for another x-ray and hope and pray that we have a clean report again.

Guinness is doing well and continues to get better everyday.  He has found a new dog bed because two in the living room is not enough.  He now sleeps on our downstairs bed.  Even when we are here with him, he will leave and jump on the bed.  Ha! Go figure that one.  We are now walking down to the park, which is a short block (but long for him) and he just loves to lay and sniff the air.  We have found a way to play catch again in our backyard and that makes me happy cuz he LOVES to play catch with his tennis balls.  We now throw the ball in a little tiny patch of dirt.  That way if he falls, its much better than our cement and he can get a better grip in the dirt than the cement.

Our next step is to purchase a ruffwear harness so he can go up the stairs and begin to sleep with my son.  They both miss this very much.  If anyone lives in the Tri-Valley area and has a L/XL harness, then please let me know.

More to come on his progress; please take care and enjoy the nice long weekend.  Dani and Guinness big-grin

Whoohoo for clean xrays! That's the best news.

Treats all around to celebrate.
Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Yay, what great news!!

I remember how wonderful it was when we started to be able to go to the park and just lie in the grass and sniff the air...and those first few games of fetch are amazing!  So glad that Guinness is feeling great and that you are all able to enjoy some good times together.

Hooray!!!  clap

Enjoy the long weekend.

-samdog's mom

Samdog was a 10 yr old Golden and retired SAR dog. We found a bone mass on 8/17/12, needle biopsy showed sarcoma 8/22/12, amputation on 8/23/12, post-amp biopsy confirmed osteosarcoma on 8/28/12. Sadly, we found lung mets on 11/27/12 and my Spirit Sam earned his wings on 12/2/12.

We didn't know where we were headed and we don't regret a single step along our path. It all happened too fast, but he left a legacy of love that we will always cherish. Good bye my heart.

Joan and Lily

Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.

That's wonderful news. I'm glad Guiness is going well.  Yes, Magnum loved sitting at the park for hours, breathing in the fresh air.  It's inspiring how they just adapt to the changes and get on with enjoying life.

Crossing everything that it continues to go well.

Karen and Spirit Magnum

Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/

Dani,

That is just awesome news about Guinness.  Treats for everyone.  What a way to start the long weekend.  We are so happy for you....getting back to a normal routine with Guinness and start enjoying every minute.  I know it's easier said that done, stop worrying and start living.  Guinness isn't worrying about anything except maybe sleeping with your son.

All our Best,

Suzie and Rizzo

OMD I thought that's what you meant. We have one of our most active Tripawds chapters in the area, you'll have to get together at one of the regular meetings! Keep an eye on our "Tripawd Parties" Discussion to find out when the next one is, or better yet, throw a date out there yourself and get the ball rolling!

My people's good friends also live in Brentwood, maybe we can meet up sometime too!

I was wondering if you meant that Tri-valley.  I'm in Livermore and part of the nor cal crew.  Do watch the Tripawd party thread- we get together in Mill Valley every few months.
