Found this on FB.  I have not tried these yet.

Gingerbread Dog Treat Recipe

The best part about the winter holidays is the food! Turkey, stuffing, candy canes, and gingerbread cookies are all seasonal favorites. But your dog shouldn’t eat most of the food you and your family will have during the holidays. If you don’t want him to feel left out, try making these gingerbread dog treats.

Start by preheating the oven to 325 degrees Fahrenheit. In a large bowl, mix three cups of whole wheat flour, two tablespoons of ginger, one teaspoon of cinnamon, and a half teaspoon of ground cloves. In a separate small bowl, mix a half of cup of molasses, a half cup of water, and a fourth cup of canola oil. Now, combine the two bowls and stir until complete.

Next, take the dough you’ve created and roll it out to about half an inch thickness. Cut out the bones with a cookie cutter. (You can use whatever shape you’d like but a bone or gingerbread shaped one would be perfect.) Place the cookies onto a lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake for 20 minutes. Cool and then serve.

This recipe yields 20 to 25 treats. You can keep them for several weeks if you refrigerate them and up to six months if you freeze them. And don’t forget that treats are supposed to make up a small percentage of your dog’s diet. Feed sparingly.

That sounds good but I'd like to see if it works with other flours, maybe rye? Supposed to be easier on the tummy. But otherwise YUM!

I was thinking the same thing like coconut flour that I had made those one dog muffins from that they liked.  I know that one was an easier flour on the tummy too and not as many allergies either.

I have used tice flour for making dog treats. Maybe that would work, too.

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

I've used almond flour since it's what I have on hand. It's not really apples to apples though (I didn't make these cookies but baked a cake once). But I bet it would work (and as Kathi said - rice flour).

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

With the other flours do you have to adjust the moisture content? It's been a while since i baked with them but I remember making a blob of mess with an alternative flour in a dog treat recipe, it was kinda a disaster.
