WELL OMD! I got these posts while I was away on work and you try and explain tears to total strangers! SO much love in this community.
Pam - thank you for sharing your story about Amy. I know how you feel ... I had dogs growing up that I also thought didn't get the 'perfect life' and I have always tried to make that up. My childhood dog that was my baby was quickly ignored once I went to college and created the new life for me. Thankfully my parents loved on her and she had the best life until her last breath at age 18!!!!
And the others ... so many but dogs are sent to us for a reason and a lesson. Sometimes we don't know that lesson until it's too late. I hope that I can continue to learn from Jasper and have Shelby by my side pushing and guiding as she loves to do!
I can't say it better than everyone else in this post has said it but know if I could, I would write the same words as all of you. I am forever grateful for your love, experiences, stories and support.
So as I was getting ready to fly out for my trip for work (without Jasper) I felt so much guilt around leaving her as I would be missing precious minutes with her as I have learned from Shelby that each second counts! But I found a shiny penny and random coin that looked like it came from a candy /toy machine at the mall. Perfectly placed on a bench on our walk. It was definitely Shelby telling me all would be ok.... and it was (except I cried for 2 days at night w/out Jasper). But I am getting better.... I know my tears were mostly Shelby related and regret for missing days/ seconds with her and I try and make up all that with Jasper now. Sucks to be her since I think she likes a little bit more space than Shelby ever did! 🙂

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
