Fortis' day starts out with the dreaded dremel! There is nothing he hates more than the sound and aroma of a pedicure!!!
The bad news first please! His day has gone from terrible to fantastic. Yea, were going swimming and I get to wear my brand new sunset orange in vogue Float Coat that is absoluetly a perfect match for my luxurious black brindle coat if I must say so myself. Yippee!!!!
A few photos of me showing off my swimming skills that any Triathlete would admire.
Here is a shot of my pawrents keeping a close eye on me. Not!
My Dad and I investigating a snake I think. If it moves I want it. Did I mention all other bathers were required to have my approval first? Well they did. That is any that walk on 4 legs! One last photo where I just couldn't hold back my emotions any longer. Dad and I just had to howl to the sun while on our drive home.
I'm full, loved and very sleepy…………Good Night!
Awwwww Fortis - you Big Ol' Goof! Just look at you! You are a sportin' dude, for sure! Orange IS your color! And way to take it like a man with the pedicure (pawdicure)! All cool guys get their nails done!
What a way to spend a Saturday!
Is that dad on that surf board?
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Fortis looks so happy! Thanks for sharing.

Great post Brett- and very wise of you to keep your face out of the pics- that Cometdog is always lurking...
And Fortis- sunset orange is your color- you look very handsome.
Sunday is the dreaded dremel day around here... how does Fortis do with that? I can hang on to Tani, but your boy is a touch bigger.
Karen and the pug girls
You look great in that bright orange float coat , Fortis! What a happy day! Holly tried to go swimming yesterday, too. She can't go over her head, though - has never gotten the hang of swimming. But she had fun!
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
Fortis... you look so handsome in your Float coat! Looks like you had an awesome pawsome time in the water!!!
Angel Jake's Mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
Doesn't it just make you so happy and proud to see Fortis swimming and having a great time like that? Makes me smile big time!
Daisy, 12 years young, had left forelimb amp on 5/19/2010 due to osteosarcoma. She left her body behind and joined the other spirit tripawds on 7/16/2010.
So grateful for each day with her!
Lexi (Daisy's momma)
oh gosh, he is SOOO CUTE! Any chance you want to sell him? I'd even pay extra for the float coat . I've always wanted a dog that would swim.....

Why Fortis - you look absolutely adorable ... I mean ... extremely competent and handsome .... in your orange float coat . It most definitely IS your color. And you are obviously a very adept swimmer. Must have been very tempting to give those surfboards just a little "nudge" ... . Looks like you had a great day playing in the water.
Brett - you're sort of like that guy on tv - the one who lives next door to "Tim, the Tool Man, Taylor" - you know the show I mean? "Home Improvement" ... that's it !!

"Going Dog" def: living every day in the moment
"It came to me that every time I lose a dog they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are."
