Today is Zeus' eight month ampuversary. We are going through quite a rough patch right now and I have to admit that although I am a bit teary typing this, we are thankful for another day. Today we will celebrate extra special because I'm not sure at this moment that we will make it to nine.
For anyone who is reading this after a new diagnosis, please know that Zeus had a lung met at the time of diagnosis and we weren't given hope for much more than six weeks survival even with amp. It has been eight fabulous, incredible months. And, despite all the statistics and research that say the mets really can't be controlled, he still only has that one stupid met and it has barely grown. I hope that we get many more ampuversaries, but even if we don't it has been worth every.single.second.
Lisa and Zeus
Zeus was a Husky mix diagnosed with Osteosarcoma at age 11. A visible lung met and suspicious spot on his liver meant a poor prognosis-six weeks was our vet's best guess. We decided to fight for our boy and his right front leg was amputated on 12/1/11. We did six rounds of chemo, changed his diet and spoiled him completely rotten. We were blessed with 10 great months after diagnosis. Against the odds, the lung met remained a single met and grew very little over those months. A wonderful furbaby with the most gentle spirit, he fought with a strength that we never imagined he possessed. We have no regrets...

Diagnosed with possible synovial cell sarcoma of right front elbow 5/31/12. Amputation surgery performed 6/7/12. Final diagnosis of histiocytic cell sarcoma 6/11/12. Her soul and spirit were strong, her body was not...my little girl earned her wings 6/14/12. Zeus, you inspire us every. single. day. Always. Congratulations on this milestone, and proving once again that a prognosis isn't always written in stone. THANK YOU for being here to share your journey with us, we are in awe of your pack's courage.
Much love and doggie kisses coming your way on this occasion!

8 months is something to celebrate, and I agree that every day is a gift.
Harley is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. Amp surgery for an infiltrative lipoma canceled due to two masses in chest. A rescue, he found his forever home on 3/18/07 and left for his eternal home on 1/09/13. His story and medical history are at http://myharley.....pawds.com/
Congratulations on 8 months!! I hope this is just a little bump in Zeus's road and that you will not only make it to 9, but also see 10, 11, 12... You get the idea.
I know Angel Abby is looking out for him. Sending pawsitive thoughts your way,
Jackie
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Happy 8 month ampuversary, Zeus!! I'm so happy that you have had such an incredible 8 months, and I wish you many more. Let's hope and pray that this difficult time passes, and Zeus gets stronger and stronger every day. We are so inspired by Zeus, and we also will celebrate every single second of Zeus's inspirational journey! Lily is having a liver treat in Zeus's honor
Hopefully this rough time will pass-thinking of you and Zeus,
Joan and Lily
Our beautiful Lily was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her front leg on 12/14/11 at age 8 and had amp on 12/16/11. She completed 5 rounds of carbo. She was so brave and kicked cancer's butt daily! She lived life fully for 4 years, 3 months, and 15 days after her amp. My angel is a warrior princess. I miss her so much.
Zeus is quite the veteran of rough patches- lets get through this one too!
Happy ampuversary Zeus. Eight months is awesome- way to blow those stats away!!
Zeus fries tonight for the pugs in celebration (well, actually, regular treats but we will call them Zeus fries!).

OMD, I really am losing my mind. His Ampuversary is tomorrow! I am at work and our phone display shows the day and date. Apparently when we lost power a few days ago (causing a complete crash of our phone systems) the phone tech reset our phones incorrectly. I just realized that today is NOT Sunday, nor is the date the 1st.
Sorry! Treats tomorrow!!

It is now the 1st so congratulations to Zeus! It has been a rough road but as you say Lisa, "worth every single second". I couldn't agree more.
Sending lots of pawsitive thoughts to both of you.
Karen and Spirit Magnum
Magnum: 30th May 2002 to 5th May 2012. Lost her back left leg to osteosarcoma on 5th Sep 2011. Lung mets found on 20th Mar 2012 but it was bone mets in the hip that ended her brave battle. Magnum's motto - "Dream as if you'll live for ever, live as if you'll die today" (James Dean). Loyal, loving, courageous and spirited to the end. My beloved heart dog, see her memoirs from Rainbow Bridge ...... http://princess.....pawds.com/
Happy Ampuversary Zeus! You said it beautifully Lisa, this journey and every day you have with him has been worth every single second. Hope you are celebrating with lots of yummy treats.
Kathy & Tasha
Tasha was a German ShepherdBorder Collie mix who was diagnosed with OSA at age 8. On December 29, 2011 she had her front right leg amputated and received 4 rounds of chemo. Sadly and suddenly Tasha became sick and we discovered she had liver cancer that had spread to her lung. After almost 19 months, Tasha earned her wings on July 17, 2013. No regrets and never forgotten.
