Many years ago when we rescued Tasha we found her at a shelter about 65 miles from our home this is also where we found Roxie. Roxie was needing a family to love and give her a furever home. When we first saw Roxie I felt something inside of me, calling to me. We took Roxie out into a pen so we could visit with her, she was very gentle and sweet. She was also very skinny, her coat was very coarse and dull. They told us she had been turned in by her previous owners who refused to give any information on her, had been there for over a month and in that time very few people had looked at her. She is only 2 years old, they are guessing but for most they considered her to old, just not the kind of dog that is popular in this area. I have always been a sucker for the underdog so Roxie became a member of our family. We feel really good that we saved a life.
We couldn't have gotten a dog that looks the opposite of Tasha had we tried. But, could it be possible that Tasha had a hand in us finding Roxie and was it with her blessing? Here is this very different looking little girl but does so many of the things that Tasha did, here are a few of the things
Tasha use to eat laying down: Roxie eats laying down.
Tasha slept upside down : so does Roxie
Tasha when she first got home for the first time jumped out the back fence but never did again : so did Roxie
Tasha would get in the car if the door was opened and lay in there until you took her for a ride : Roxie does the same thing
Tasha would get on the couch when left behind and knock the pillows off : Roxie knocks the pillows off to
Roxie hasn't taken her first trip in the big rig yet, probably she will become a trucker dog next week but I think she will be a good trucker dog after all she will have an Angel guiding her.
My heart still aches for Tasha, I think it always will, she will always own a huge piece of my heart. I hope I am honoring my girl by saving Roxie's life and letting Roxie become part of our family.

Awwwwwww! My heart is so happy! And Roxie is so beautiful! Seriously, look at that wonderful coloring! I am just so incredibly happy for you guys! I just know this was meant to be!

Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Yeah! Of course you are honoring Angel Tasha! You rescued a pup that needed a great home, and Angel Tasha has given her blessings by showing you that Roxie has some of her habits. This is a great day to celebrate, so very happy for you. I literally have tears of joy in my eyes. Treats for everyone...furbabies & humans.
Sending you many, many golden hugs. Can't wait to read & see more of Roxie.

Welcome Roxie!
Congratulations Jo Ann, you are awesome for adopting, and taking in that pup that no one seemed to want. She sounds perfect for you guys!
You are definitely honoring Tasha and the love she gave you over the years. You are being brave and strong enough to again open your heart and life to a pup who needs a home. It's not easy- but you will be rewarded!

The best way to honor Tasha's life and what she gave to you is to give back to another who needs it. I have no idea why Roxie wasn't the popular girl in rescue, but I have a thought. Maybe because she was supposed to be with you and she wasn't meant to have anyone else really see her for who she is. Maybe?
I see an earnest expression that is intelligent. I see spots that remind me of Maggie Moo. I see a great tail that will stick straight out when she trees a squirrel. I see a dog with a new and loving home. If I could see you, I'd see you smiling at Roxie's love. I'm so happy that you have found each other!

From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.

Sounds to me like Tasha became a guardian angel.....and she sent you a precious new pup for you to love -
and since Tasha knows just how special she was to you - she is teaching Roxie just the right way to wiggle her way into your heart.
so happy for you!!

I think Roxie is stunning! She has such a soulful face, and sounds like Tasha picked her just for you!
My heart still aches for Tasha, I think it always will, she will always own a huge piece of my heart. I hope I am honoring my girl by saving Roxie's life and letting Roxie become part of our family.
I know how that feels. i don't think my heart or my life will ever be the same without Trouble. Three months today and I still miss her as much today as I did the first day, and the tears still softly fall (without warning at times). You and I will heal in time, we may even learn to love again (I mean after all, how can you not love Roxie?!) but I fully expect to always miss Troub.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
She is wonderful. I think everyone has said it best! I must say that rescuing this girl is the most precious gift you can give anyone. Saving a life is the very best of all gifts. I shudder when I think how many beautiful healthy dogs perish every day because there isn't a place for them. She is thanking you by keeping your memories of Tasha alive, I believe with Tashas help.
I didn't know you guys were truckers, we are too! Do you stay close to home or branch out?
