charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
That is an awesome post celebrating that one year adoption. That she is a tripawd, just makes her that much more special. She sounds like she has the spirit of Trouble. And that could never be a bad thing!
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
Happy Adoptaversary Shelby! She is such a cutie!
Hope she keeps kicking cancer's butt. It needs a good ass-whoopin!
Jackie, Abby's mom
Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!
Thanks so much for the kind words......and yes, I suspect she channels Spirit Trouble, amongst others. I had selfishly hoped she could earn her CGC and TDI so we could do therapy work on the amputee unit at the VA......but as I mentioned in the earlier post, Shelby does not always care for her fellow canines, especially females. She adores her *sisters* and has accepted my new little foster guy Farley (45 pound golden/lab/nova scotia duck tolling retriever/bassett/?????? youngster) but he is smaller than she is, very submissive and he's a boy.
So instead, she enjoys terrorizing lizards and staring into the sky for the elusive squirrels that know better than to come near her. I continue to work with a positive reinforcement trainer but Shelby is who she is and I accept her for that and love her in spite of her occasional less than charming ways! LOL
Happy adoptaversary, and belated ampuversary, and way to go for kicking some cancer ass! Your description of Shelby reminds me a little of the phrase "heaven doesn't want me and hell's afraid I'm gonna take over"! Of course, all dogs go to heaven, but that second part might be true I have been mom to a few "problem children", but they hold a special place in my heart. May your blessings multiply as each day goes by. Way to go Shelby!!!
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

What a great story, geesh, a female with a mind of her own, imagine that!!!!!! Kudos for taking her in and giving her a great home and life, I know you know its worth it, Paws up to Shelby and you, Spirit Gus and Dan
My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
Missed this yesterday, Shelby, but I say "good for you" for being your own damn self! I also have selective hearing and wait for squirrels to fall from the sky. I am a PITA, not a TSS, but I think we must be a lot alike. And yes you and I will both go to heaven because we have to be in charge. If you want another quote kinda like the one Lisa wrote, I know this one: "Dear Lord, make me into the kind of dog where the devil says every morning, 'oh crap, she's up.'" You can put in the word "human" instead of dog if you want, but I think it was written for you!
Happy happy, Miss Shelby!
Love, Dakota
From abandoned puppy to Tripawd Warrior Dude, Dakota became one of the 2011 February Furballs due to STS. Our incredibly sweet friend lived with grace and dignity till he impulsively raced over the Bridge on 12-15-12.
Dakota's thoughtful and erudite blog is at http://shari.tr.....pawds.com/
Aww Shelby & Pam, congrats! What a hoppy family you have there. Thank YOU Pam, for giving her a chance and showing her such a good life.
I was looking through your old posts and couldn't find any pictures of Shelby and your pack. We'd love to see some!

Had to laugh at Dakota Dawg being a PITA, not a TSS. Definitely a similarity in the two being spunky and demanding and meeting the world on their own terms. But, comparing the two, I think I need to re-classify Trouble as a PITA also. How many times did I call her that over the course of 12 1/2 years!
Thank you for the laugh, Dakota!

Congratulations! Wonderful that you 2 found each other and you gave her a chance to have a great life as TSS!

Awwww. Happy EVERYTHING Shelby!
I knew she wasn't going to stay a foster when you came on!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Happy Gotcha Day, Shelby!
Way to go, kicking cancer's ass! It's a bad, bad thing and needs to be whupped on as much as possible, by as many of us as possible!
Rio
PS: My big sister Shasta was definitely a TSS, too! She would bite me if I didn't listen to my mom, so that's why I am perfect (at least that's what some people tell me)! I learned really fast to be a good girl.

You guys are the BEST!!! My beloved PITA and I thank you! And Spirit Jerry, I am embarrassed to admit that I am extremely computer illiterate. I don't have a blog, still am wandering through this new AOL photo program but if someone could be kind enough to indulge me, I could send you pics of Shelby and her pack......amazing how well they'll sit for a photo shot when Mom is holding ONE treat! I apologize for my ineptitude for all things computer but again, if someone can post, I'll happily send!
Thank GOD for clicker training....it's about the only thing that works (sometimes) to get TSS inside when she's on one of her search & destroy lizard missions.
