I'd like to send out my condolences to two of our fellow tripawders for their recent losses with family members. And since we all are like family here, I feel it's only right to let others know.
Mari - (Mika's mom) who just lost her mother to cancer on October 8th.
and
Carmen - (Catie's & Riley's mom) who suddenly and unexpectedly lost her father-in-law on October 10th.
My sincerest and deepest condolences to you both.
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Mari and Carmen,
I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you as you face this difficult period.

Kami
My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
The outpouring of love and support this community, er... FAMILY has to offer, never ceases to amaze us. Thank you.
We too offer our most sincere condolences. Peace.

Laura and Tai
Tai – 9 yr old lab. Diagnosed Osteosarcoma Dec 18/09. Front right leg amputated Dec 21/09. Started chemo Jan 7/10. Lung mets discovered Sept 16/10. Valiant to the end on Oct 26/10 when cancer reappeared in a leg and we made the decision to set her free. Forever in my heart where not even cancer can take her from me.
Carmen and Mari

Debra
Debra & Emily, a five year old doberman mix, who was diagnosed with an osteosaecoma. She had a right rear leg amputation on May 19, 2009. On November 10, 2009 she earned her wings and regained her fourth leg.
A very belated thank you for all of you kind words. My mother had a liver transplant last November and had a miraculous recovery. She'd been doing fabulously and I still have a voicemail from her on my phone dated Aug 17th with her saying, "Mari, I'm cancer-free. YAY!!" She told Mika jokingly just last month, "Mika, if you live longer than me, I'm gonna be MAD at you!" and we all laughed. Little did we know, less than six weeks after we learned that the cancer was back, would she pass. She didn't stand a chance. And the crazy thing of it all was that it wasn't even liver cancer, it was some other rare form of cancer that spread fast and was aggressive, even going to the lining of her brain. And my mom's cancer spread to her bones and you know what? Just like our vet told us about Mika's cancer, the pain was UNBEARABLE. The onocolgists threw out words like tramadol and a fentanyl patches and I knew what it all meant because we just went through all this back in February. In fact, Mika's amputation took place on my mother's 67th birthday. <sigh> I'm so glad we took off her leg and got rid of the pain.
Anyway, my mother's obit (which I wrote) came out today: [edited to remove bad link]
It's been a rough, rough month, but I'm THANKFUL to report that my furbaby is still doing great!!
Hugs to you all. Cancer is a $#@% !!! (You fill in the blank.)
Mari (Mika's mom)
