Fortis was Comet's 2nd true love. Her first love left her suddenly in 2009. She found out she could love again and it was with Fortis.
Oh sure, she flirted with all the new boy dogs and she tolerated (not well) the other girl dogs flirting with him. But they knew it was all in fun.
As her heart breaks, she has to say goodbye in her own special way.
♥Goodbye Fortis My Love, from Comet♥
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
A beautiful tribute to a beautiful soul.
Sadie is my 9yr old Rott/Shepherd mix. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in her right scapula 1/28/10. Our brave girl had her amputation 2/13/10 and her last chemotherapy on 6/6/10. Unfortunately, a tumor appeared in her back right leg and on 10/7/2010 Sadie's earthly journey came to an end. On 10/24/2010 we adopted Ranger, a handsome Rott/Lab mix tripawd (got hit by a car) I think Sadie sent him to us.

I almost made it through without tears, but alas, it was not to be. How long can you cry for a dog that isn't yours? I have always loved the picture of Fortis in the straw hat, it always brings a smile. And the picture of Comet on his forehead brought a real laugh!
Comet, I'm so sorry your sweetheart is gone.
Shanna & Spirit Trouble ~ Trouble gained her wings 3/16/2011, a 27 1/2 month cancer survivor, tail wagging. RIP sweetheart, you are my heart and soul. Run free at Rainbow Bridge.
The November Five - Spirits Max, Cherry, Tika, Trouble & Nova. 11/2008 - 3/2013 An era ends as Queen Nova crossed the Bridge.
Beautiful tribute, Comet. We miss him too.

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
I lost it at the straw hat.
Beautiful. Just beautiful.
Catie -
Birthday – November 4 2003
Amputation – January 13 2010
Crossed the Bridge – June 2 2011
That was such a beautiful tribute to Fortis! (all your tributes are beautiful!) I cried the whole time!
I cry for every tripawd that looses their battle... even if I've never met any of them... Because I know that everyone here, has the same great love for their furbabies as I do... and the loss just tears our hearts out. But we are all so lucky, to have been able to experience that unconditional love they have given us...
I'm not very good at writing my thoughts like many others here... but I think you alll understand what I mean.
I will never forget my Jake, Fortis, or any other of the brave tripawds that have gone before... May they all rest in peace... and run free and play together at the Rainbow Bridge!!
Angel Jake and Wolfie's Mom
Jake, 10yr old golden retriever (fractured his front right leg on 9/1, bone biopsy revealed osteosarcoma on 9/10, amputation on 9/17) and his family Marguerite, Jacques and Wolfie, 5yr old german shepherd and the newest addition to the family, Nala, a 7mth old Bengal mix kittie. Jake lost his battle on 11/9/2009, almost 8 weeks after his surgery. We will never forget our sweet golden angel… http://jakesjou.....ipawds.com ….. CANCER SUCKS!
Tears are falling here as well, as Fortis was a special soul. He and the love he shared with Brett and Pattie has always touched our hearts. His bond and dedication to his friends on this site will never be forgotten and I will never forget my first crush, even if I had a lot of competittion.
I like to think about Fortis crossing over that Rainbow Bridge but then heading right back over it and doing what he really loved, swimming under the bridge to reach his final resting spot where he can swim, wear all the funny hats he wants and no longer be in pain.
Love never ends, Ginger
Not a dry eye in this house either. Comet, your love shows through, what a beautiful tribute to our hero.

Comet,
As always that was beautiful. I am so sorry for Brett and Pattie, for you, for us all. This made me cry, but the love you show here and all of the support for Fortis and his family warms my heart.

I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us. Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

My sweet golden Mackenzie. She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2 although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home. She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009. She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes. I love you Mackenzie!
