Sending big love and best thoughts for EmmaRose.
Lisa, Minneapolis
On October 27, 2016, nearly 6 months after amputation, and 18 months since his cancer likely started, we lost Pofi to a recurrence of Soft Tissue Sarcoma in his spine quite suddenly. His canine sister also succumbed to cancer on March 1, 2019 - we lavished her with our love in the interim, but life was never quite the same without her only real canine friend. Cliff kitty had to leave us, too, suddenly, in August 2019. Lucia kitty grieved all these losses, but helped us welcome two new Lurchers into our home and our lives, Shae and Barley.
Thinking of you and Da Bears today ❤️

Good luck sweet Emma Rose!
and I loved your comment the other day about going on a drive with good music to get some time to switch your head off.
been doing any of that lately? don't forget to take care of yourself, too...
big hugs

Osteo and amputation in Dec 2015. Second, inoperable, primary osteosarcoma found in June 2017.
The end of our adventures came Dec 10, 2017. 2 years to the day.
I so hope everything goes well for EmmaRose, she sure does deserve a bit of slack. Though she's rolled with the punches in a truly elegant and dignified way that would put most of us to shame in a similar situation!!
I would love some pic's or vids of your pack - they sound like a right pairing!
Much love

Zuki Wuggafer 30/09/06 - 11/11/16. Right hind tripawd due to Osteosarcoma. He had a strong 5 and half months as a tripawd but unfortunately a secondary issue with his spine ended our battle. He loved life, loved our family and was the best dog I could ever ask for. Truly my first love, forever in my thoughts and heart.

Thinking about Emma and your pack!
Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016. Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016. Lung mets August 25, 2016. Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016. Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.
Wherever they are, they are together.
Thank you, thank you, thank you for your wishes and prayers and thoughts and generosity!!! We survived the day due to all of you:)
And so...We did not get the news we wanted to hear.
Good news: Emma flew through surgery and can come home to be reunited with the CharlieBear tomorrow!!! We are so extremely thankful that she did very well and is sleeping off the pink elephants as I write. She won't even need the Dreaded Cone of Shame!
Bad news: her tumor was floating (good) but had invaded a few blood vessels ( and I swear Purrkins, I did not say " Why not?!?) So there could be MicroYaddaYaddaWeAllKnowTheDrill...If they had just radiated the tumor when she was having her SRT which ended 02/03...I did ask for them to do that and yet, TheyWhoShallRemainNameless (Achooo!Vet Achoo School) never even took her T levels to determine she was hyperthyroidic even though they found the tumor as an incidental finding when she had her CT for the SRT back in January. I just asked my local vet last week to do the test because Emma was losing weight and stealing DaBear's food.
However, as both the surgeon and the neuro said, it is a race to see which slow growing tumor will kill her first.( I don't mean to laugh, but really?!? This gave me the idea that Emma has a rare case of Sloth Cancer...) We are fortunate that both tumors are now treated and that we can go forward.
Likely Emma will now be on thyroid meds and have her heart meds adjusted going forward. And we will hear from the vets tomorrow on- wait for it...- RADIATION possibilities and maybe some type of chemo. Likely EmmaRose will just be monitored and rechecked for many months as that is what the surgeon says is fairly typical for thyroid dogs.
I haven't done much research yet on thyroid tumors but it does seem as if it is possible to have 1-2 years of DaBear time still. And EmmaRose is a DaBear Champion so I am going to remain very hopeful that she rejoins the DaBear pack and has many, many more days in the sun and under the stars with CharlieBear.
if anyone has any experience with thyroid tumors, I would love to hear from you and hear your thoughts as mine are a bit more muddled.
Love you ALL. Hugs and big PyrPaws to all from DaBears and me.
Glad she made it through! And, maybe sloth cancer isn't such a bad prognosis under the circumstances. Have you ever watched a sloth? They barely move. You could grow old waiting for them. Which might not be a bad option for Emma Rose. Grow old, waiting for a sloth to move. . .

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Can't wait to hear about Da Bears' reunion. A sloth race sounds just the ticket to me. They'll be stopping for kips every half a second and forgetting which way they were going. Sloths don't stand a chance against DaBear Champion Emma Rose.
You are a truly amazing dog mum. So on the case! I'll bet those sloths are trembling with fear even in their sleep.
