Hi Wildcats, welcome! Your future posts won't require approval so post away (sorry for the delay in getting this posted!)
Tell us more about your cat's situation so we can better help you. Is he coming home right from surgery, or are you bringing him home after adopting him with 3 legs? How young is he? And what are your other cats like? Indoor? Outdoor? Both? Where will your Tripawd cat live? And most importantly what's his name? 😉
I'm not owned by a cat, but others here are and they can give you better tips than I. What I can offer right now is that in my experience reading about others' stories here, most animals instinctively know how to give each other space after surgery. We've rarely seen a case of bullying or shunning the new Tripawd and when that happens it's usually for other reasons besides amputation.

I look forward to hearing the answers to Jerry's questions.
Just to let you know that Eli, my male cat, was very sweet to Mona who had the leg amputation. I did keep her in a separate room while she healed but Eli always wanted in with her. He would just watch over her from a couple of feet away.
10 cats! You have quite the menagerie don't you!

Thank you. How long did it take Mona to heal?
I have indoor/outdoor kitties. I rescued "Motel Ziggy" in October and think he's about 5-6 months old. Ziggy was the first
kitty that just walked into the house and told the others (four dogs and kitties) that he now "owned this place" and nobody
objected.
He was mauled by a neighbor's dog and has a broken femur on one leg, the other leg is infected and needs amputation.
I am afraid that if I put him in the guest house to heal, he will be miserable. My main house does not have a room that
can be closed. Haven't heard from the vet yet.
Hi Angelique, please consider registering so your future posts won't need approval. Glad to hear your kitty is home. He's had a rough go of things, poor guy. I think he has the right attitude and if nobody objected to the way he joined your family, then he should have a good recovery. Let us know what the vet says.

Awww, poor Motel Ziggy. But very smart to choose your house!
As for healing - the most important time is when the stitches are still in, about 2 weeks. You don't want the site to get infected and you want to "try" to control jumping and wrestling during this time.
Some people here kept their cats in a bathroom, laundry room, closet or a large crate to lessen the activity. Even the first day home Mona went from worming around the floor to jumping up on things. She's a front leg amputee.
By the way my sister who works in the insurance field said the neighbour's insurance should cover your vet bills. I'm not sure it that depends where the cat was mauled.
Keep us in the loop please.

ps. Recently I just had a very sick cat move into my spare bedroom. I don't know how long he'd been there. My cats did not seem to notice. Luckily I found his home and he'd been missing for days.
Thank yo for your support. I talked to the vet, he said he does not want to give Ziggy more pain med. I know from
having been in the hospital many times that in the mornings and evenings the pain can be excruciating. Ziggy is
now going through the kitty door to the garden and, when I am at the computer, on my lap for a few minutes
and then goes "agro" again. He did bite "gently" before, more like nibbles, or what I thought were "love bites".
