Murphy managed to get so excited about the water coming out of the hose that he irritated his back. We had to take Gus to the dermatologist this morning, so we checked in with Murphy's rehab vet while we were at the specialty clinic. She will do an acupuncture and laser treatment tomorrow. A few days on Rimadyl and he should be back in the swing.

BTW, Gus' new miracle drug was just that. His doctor was beyond pleased with the way his bumps had gone away. She is cutting that expensive medicine down to every other day for the next 30 days. If he does well on that, she will cut it even further after that. Looks like the new $$$$ drug could end up being cheaper in the long run.

Kathi and Murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Oh Murphy......Tuck says he understands though.....a Lab/Chessie Cross - of course you were excited about water.

Now you will just have to relax until your green beans are ready to harvest.

Glad Gus is recuperating too - these furbabies of ours really keep us on our toes.

Hugs

Thanks, everyone. Murphy had a very good session at therapy yesterday. He even fell asleep during the acupuncture treatment! Right now he is asleep next to me on the love-seat out on our patio. He had a tiny bit of help getting up here, but it was mostly of the encouragement type. He is moving much easier this morning.

His doctor thinks that a monthly session (or maybe sessions at three months later on) may be the thing to help him with his change in configuration. He does tend to shorten up his gait and this causes him to have more back problems than he would otherwise. We have been concentrating so much on the leg exercises that I am afraid we have been neglecting to do as many of the core strength ones as we should. I guess we will have a new routine now. Three days a week with core and three days a week with leg. Sundays off! We will cut back on the length of his walks for the next few days, but he will go on more short ones. With our predicted triple digit heat coming this week, those walks will be EARLY in the mornings.

We did get to watch an interesting video while we were at rehab. She had three videos of a kitty doing the underwater treadmill! There was also a video of the cat doing a little tiny Cavaletti course. She had badly compromised hind quarters. Not sure what caused the problem.

Glad to hear that crazy bean lovjng pup is feeling betterclap

It's truly amazing how far dog PT has come. Tl be able tl pinpoint the exact therapies/exercises Murohy needs is wonderful. I'm sure he sees it as yet another waymtongetmthe nin-stop attention he feels entitled to!! And yeah, he's earned that "sense of entitlement".

Keep staying strong Murph!! It's bean patch time and you need to be in peak bean picking shape!

I talk to Happy Hannah through her portrait everyday. I'll mention specifically for her to fill those beans with magic stardust that makes them extra plump and full of healing nutrients!way-cool

Se ding lots of love.

Sally and Happy Hannah and Myrtle too!

Wow that's a workout schedule that I need to follow, he's going to be in great shape!

Kitty rehab....I would love to see more of that. Were these videos of the docs working on patients at Murphy's clinic?

Oh yea. Feeling better!
http://youtu.be.....Q-rn_Ooh9c

I am trying to upload a video from you tube on the ipad, so bear with me. This was Murphy doing a great job on the Hairy Roach this morning.

Yes, jerry. The kitty videos were taken by Murphy's rehab vet at the facility in Boise. When I checked you tube, there were several videos of cats doing hydrotherapy.
